May I ask for BP05 vs BP26 cam specifications? Somehow I believe that you made calculations before cutting the BP26 ex-cam

Currently I run BP engine (block and head) + BPT ecu + IHI VJ11 from Ford Probe + custom piping with IC.

I have two sets of BP05 cams from one of my previous and one current engine, and one set of BP26. My conscious is preventing me from cutting BP26's

What way to go would you offer?

id still like to say, dyno regular bp26 cams VS mine. i may very well get an option to do that one of these days.

my car still runs the same as it did the day i put the cams in. you only have to if you want to find the cam specs.

Wow, you're blazing fast to write an answer. It's almos 2 AM here where I live, so a typo in search phrase "camshaft" made me believe that such information does not exist in this forum 1 part of my post has been already answered (btw, I had found your other thread about GTX/GT cam differences before you replied here ).

How about the other one? You are saying that you'll dyno (c) bpt323 camshaft mod VS stock BP26 cams. Currently I am very interested in BP05 vs BP26 competition results

Given the rarity of BPT related conversations nowadays it is truly hard to find reliable information I could depend on

Has anyone thought of getting their cams rebalanced after cutting the end off?

Well just bit the bullet and did it. Initial impressions are.......... good god its cam-y-er than I expected. I'm only pulling 10 in of mercury at idle, down from 19 or so. Along with an audible lope. It really made a vibrating grumbly car more vibraty and grumbly.

After doing the paper clip ground to ten and setting the idle speed and timing, I took it for a run. It does make more power, agian how much I can't really say. Starting isn't notably affected which is nice.

Now....is it worth it. Well I think that kind of depends. On a VJ-20 daily driver like my car I'm gonna say no. All it's really doing on my car is making a little more mid range torque. The VJ-20 was already out of puff after 5500 or so and now its just worse. Along with the fact it makes it that much easier to bounce fuel cut.... (a mega squirt is looking better by the day.)

On a standalone bigger turbo car I'd say hell yes, but it just makes my DD kind of annoying. And on top of it I can't easily go back because I irreversibly cut the BP-26 exhaust cam. Oh well thats the cost of fun.

Just went and worked the math backwards incase anyone actually wants to degree thier cams. This is for the intake cam advanced 1.5*, exhaust retarded 6*, along with the needed cam flipping and two teeth advanced. All numbers at .003in lift.
                        Intake
opening 0* BTDC (rounded from .05 BTDC)
closing 67* ABDC (rounded from 67.5 ABDC)

                        Exhaust
                        opening 62* BBDC
                        closing 8* ATDC

Im pretty sure I read the whole thread carefully, I don't believe I saw this addressed. Wouldn't using two bp26 exhaust cams allow for the least amount of overlap? Or would the gains be negligible? Sounds like a vf10 hybrid could benefit from this more so than the vj20?

                                Ok...sry to revive the thread...
So...i saw a Mazda B5 engine lying around at my local J/Y...I dont know the cam codes...maybe BP05?
Will the Mazda B5 Exhaust cam be good enough for my GTR considering I put my GTR exhaust cam cut off and placed at the intake side...ofcource getting all the cams balanced 1st...

                                Any suggestion?
