    Obd2 Connector

Hi. I'm a newbie to this site.

I have a 95 protege 1.5 DOHC and from what I'm told, it is OBD2. My question is would a normal OBD2 scanner fit the diagnostic connector in the engine compartment or does it take a special connector? If it is different, where can I get one with out going to the dealer?

The standard OBD-II connector will not fit the under-hood diagnostic connector. I believe you can just can an adapter for an OBD-II scanner, and besides the dealer, i would try any place you know of that sells the scanner.

The OBD-II diagnostics port is in the car - under the steering wheel, close to the hood release.

I didn't realize that the 95 pros were OBDII. I thought that was only 96 and newer vehicles except for certain makes and models.

I know it's spelled protege! I just can't change it. Deal with it!

I'm pretty sure they all have the OBD connector, but earlier models aren't fully compliant with OBD-II.
