3rd gen Escort or 2nd gen pro suspension parts

Since i don't have access to US pro LX to upgrade front spindles and brakes, i was thinking using newer escort or pro parts. Does anyone know if front struts, spindles, rotors and calipers from a 3rd gen escort or 2nd gen pro fit the 1st gen 323 or pro? Are these parts any bigger/better then the parts we have on the 323?

What about the control arms? We know the subframes are the same...

not sure but i do know the gen2 pro is not the same chassis as a gen2 or 3 escort they are both bg's.

i have a feeling they fit but what concerns me is the spline count in the hub bearing. Since tranny is built by ford and different from bg mazda, the axels could be completely different. I guess i'll do some experiments when i go to the junkyard.

when did the protege start using ford trannies?
afaik, it's just mazda f and g-types in proteges.

honestly, I think the BG and 2nd gen (BH?) stuff might interchange. maybesome of the 3rd gen stuff?
what about the BG protege GT? MX3? Escort GT?
          ZX2? Contour?

3rd gen escort control arms are the same. altho i would reccomend you use 2nd gen Pro control arms or Mx3 control arms. as either appear to be wider

i'am asking about 3rd gen ford as there are tons of them around here compared to mx3 and GT (none). Furthermore, junk yard parts would be newer on 3rd gens than on older pros.

Didn't newman said that 2nd gen is different, the control arms with the hubs would still fit?

I am more interested in the bigger spindles/rotors/brakes as my 323pos tiny rotors are not very efficient i find.

2nd Gen. Protege = BHA chassis.

If you want bigger brakes on your 323, swap Protege GT/Escort GT front brakes on there.

yes, we all know that second gen is BHA chassis.
I already said that i don't have any EGT of proGT's around here, these cars are rare in canada, especially here in Montreal. That's why i'm interested in 3rd gen escorts but looks like noone knows. I'll prolly hit the junk yard this week end and hopefully if they have some 3rd gens, i'll let you know if the brakes are bigger or not. I'll try to look at the BHA as well to see if these parts actually interchange.

the second gen I.E. BHA chassis isn't as different as you think. take a look under one.

In my opinion its like a BG-2 chassis like the zx2

Ask around, I'm sure someone on here has at least some of the parts you need for a front brake upgrade.

I can tell you that the struts from a 3rd gen escort will fit a protege/323.

Have you thought of just buying the calipers, pads, and rotors at a parts store or online?

I agree with 323 driver about the scarcity of upgrade parts in JYs here, unlike the states where the LX is top of the line protege with all the good stuff like the bp engine and upgraded brakes and is easily available, that stuff only came here on the Protege GT and that's a pretty rare beast, the Escort GT is only slightly more available.

The chances of finding a GT in a JY. is slim to none Escort GTs are few and far between
