The only noticable difference is the gears are cryo'd on the GTR and have less of a gray look to them.. I have both a GTR and GTX trans apart and could not tell the difference between the two outside the GTR is the AE and has a few different ratios than the GTX...

Aren't there two different GTX trannies? A 1.6L version and a 1.8L version. It's my understanding that the 1.8L laid the engine back 5 or so degrees, where the 1.6L had the engine upright. My guess would be that if you got the tranny with a BPT from an importer, than it's certainly a GTX, 1.8L version. Importers know the value of a GTR tranny.

I know where I can get one locally, but how much do you want for yours?
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.
