    brake upgrades?

    i have a 91 323.

i have a bp05 n/a with 14"s during winter and 15" alloys during summer. now i keep warping my rotors.

is there a upgrade that bolts on with no fab work? and pics would help.

i drive fast and stop even faster. also i do alot of city driving. and frankly i go through about a pad a year. which is bad.

Following the break in procedure is detrimental for the longevity of pads and rotors. A good set of high quality blank rotors will be the most durable (such as Brembo or Eurorotor), as well as some pads that have higher thermal threshold and more consistent performance at higher temperatures.

Make sure your caliper sliders are functioning properly, the installation is correct, and that you MAKE SURE you follow the break-in procedure, and you should be fine!

We sell KVR brake pads, which are an aggressive street/mild race pad. They can be found here:

I believe Nopi may have the best price on Brembo blanks for USA customers.
For some reviews on the KVR pads, you can go here:

    Good luck!

Have you swapped Protege LX/GT or EGT/TLTS front brakes on your car and done a rear disc conversion?

What rotors and pads are you using?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was told this a long time ago: There is no problem with stopping fast and building up heat in the rotors and pads. The problem is uneven cooling, so you def DO NOT want to come to a fast stop and then sit at a red light with your foot on the brakes. This holds the heat in one spot and prevents the rotors from cooling evenly. You want to creep a little to allow the rotors to cool relatively evenly. Obviously, if it is flat, then you don't have to put the brakes on at all to sit still at a light.

if you are sitting in one spot it doesnt matter if you are holding the brakes or not, the pad is still in contact with the rotor. so if you sit in one spot with hot brakes they will cool unevenly.

hmm. i used to have a civic that might as well have been a race car and i went through three sets of pads a year. . . the rotors were powerslots and the pads were axxis metal matrix street pads. that was a pretty expensive 3 set a year habit. . . i would have been happy with only buying one.

I just got finished installing my kvr rotors and pads this weekend that I bought from chris. So far they are very nice, i have not had a chance to heat them up as i am just about done with the break-in. I would reccomend them highly, the silver plating that resisits corrosion is awsome.

heavy braking on slotted rotors will chew pads up, but then again its a consistant brake & there is no gases on the pad for 3/4 of the flat pad sweep.
