I was reading on the 1.6 sohc turbo possibility and was thinking that maybe i could go that way with my 1.8 sohc, any and all input is appreciated, any suggestions or what parts i will all need. thanks

custom custom custom. someone did turbo their 1.8SOHC...but in the end its pointless.

Just do a DOHC head swap, it'll lower compression, and give you more power in the end.

Well what other info are you looking for? Because there's a lot more parts available for the 1.8 DOHC BP engine compared to the 1.8 SOHC B8.

Their blocks are indentical, so doing a headswap only requires a DOHC complete head (manifolds aswell) , headgasket, ECU, fuel injector harness, and you have to run 2 wires, one for the 4 wire disti (sohc has 3 wire) and 1 wire for VICS (butterfly valving system in the intake manifold.

Right there you'll have about 15-20hp more than the SOHC B8...which in the end is like running a low boost turbo application (5psi or something). Then afterwards you can make a custom turbo manifold from the 94 shorty exhaust manifold, or source out a gtx turbo exhaust manifold and a VJ20 turbo.

oh, yea. good call Jon. Basically it would just be easier to source out a low K bp, get a compression and leak down test so you know what seals have to be replaced, more than likely it'll be cam seals, valve cover, disti o-ring, and main seals.
