this has gotten ridiculous.
i had problems with the idle before even swapping it out.
the usual: at a stop, the idle would bog down a bit, bouncing and stuff. with a/c on? yup, even worse. it wouldn't stall out....until as of late.
then came the removal and replacement. i checked the one i got from the salvage yard for correct resistance...it was alright.
anyways, i do the swap, then put everything back together. start her up.....the rpm's are at 2750 rpms....and showed no signs of wanting to come back down.....aaaaarrrggh! to make matters worse, it started rising and falling, rising and falling. freakin aggravating. i try to fix one problem, and now i have another.
I thought maybe it was just a bad replacement IAC, so i cleaned the original(yeah it was dirty) then put that one back on. i was hoping i'd at least get the original problem with the idle since it wasn't as much of a PITA.
......and what do ya know? same high ass RPM problem. it's somewhat driveable, but it's just really freakin loud since it refuses to go below 2500 rpms while in neutral. i checked thru the manual and one possible reason i found was the TPS being broken or loose. I just don't see what could've made the TPS go ape**** on me after switching out the IAC. All i did to that part was unplug it, then plug it back in.
i checked continuity with the specified feeler gauge inserted, and it went to zero. i checked it while fully opening the throttle plate, and it didn't show continuity until approaching WOT, as specified in the book.
does a fuse need to be unplugged to allow the ecu to reset the idle control?
i fixed a problem like this with a friend's acura legend, but i guess that's a bit different. Besides, i've already tried unplugging various fuses, then puttin em back in and nothing's fixing it. I really need to find out what the hell's wrong with it. If it's the TPS, then i'll just go get another from the salvage yard. there's plenty there. i'm sure i'll be using up a lot of gas going to work this week thanks to the stupid ass idle.
i tried searching the forums and couldn't find the same symptoms....
