    BP transplant into 323

I'm currently building a '92 323 for rallycross. I'm looking to transfer a BP drivetrain out of a 90-94 LX into the 323. I need to know if the mounts are the same, or if I'm going to need to do some fabrication. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Sweet!!! I love engine bay to engine bay swaps, they make life so much easier. Thanks for the speedy response.

        swap

You may also need to swap the shift linkage over from the bp. I swapped a bp fomr a 95 escort gt and the shift linkages were slightly different. Not sure if thats the case between a protege and 323 though.

Best bet, use the LX mounts. You'll also need the linkage and the speedocable. You'll see where the cable disconnects 1/2, take that off your 323 and replace it with the LXs. Also a nice upgrade is an EGT rad/plumbing. It aluminum with side tanks.

              linkage

I might spring for a new shifter linkage. I sold Mazda parts for about seven years, and at least once a week we would sell one to a poor person whose shifter had fallen through the floor. Does anyone know of an LSD that'll work?

Yo shouldn't need new linkage, make sure the support tabs are in ok shape. Also what type of LSD are you talking about? You can use the Mazdaspeed Protege LSD with 94-97 Kia Sephia axles from what i can remember.

Assides from that im going to try Phantom Grip, its just a clamp they put on your LSD.

                  Lsd

The only LSD that I've located so far is the one that Quaife makes. The only issue is that it runs @$1400.00 If the 'speed one works with Sephia axles, that would definately be the cheaper way to go. Do you know if the whole tranny will bolt up, or do I have to do some "tranny surgery"? That has a whole different meaning here in Austin,TX.

you have to put the MSP diff into a sephia or protege LX/escort GT trans.. then it will bolt up. the MSP transmission is different. the years you want for the sephia trans/axles is 94-97 with the 1.8 BP

Muchas Gracias to you both! Would the 94-97 Sephia axles be any different than the 95-98 Protege ES axles? I may still have a set of those laying around from my old SSC car. Thanks again for all of the help. Looks like it's time to go salvage yard hunting.
