    Goin' Megasquirt (My progress thread)

Well as some of you may know I bought Pastor's protege back in January to replace my pro (totaled by a hit and run). I've had good luck with it. I recently put down 195hp at 14psi, but I'm starting to get tired of the short coming of the BP-26. So I'm going with the MS. I just started doing the research, so look out everyone that has done it before I'm sure I'll be fillin' up your PM box. I was thinking MS I with the v3.0PCB and running MSnSe for full fuel and spark. As well as DiyAutoTune.com's boost controller mod. I have an automatic throttle body, a GM IAT sensor, and I'm going to use the factory temp. sensor and dizzy. I also have a MSD 6AL with a 2-step that I'm going to try my damnedest to make work. I know lex was having problems with his, but everyone I've talked to said that there's worked just fine... so I guess we'll see. I would also like to add a knock sensor, is there a mod kit or some way of doing that?

Is there anything else I forgot?

I'm also going to finally be putting on my GTR intake manifold, porting and polishing the head and mani, a bigger FRONT mount intercooler, and putting power steering back in.

I hope to take a ton of pix along the way so stay tuned.

If Im not mistaken. The Knock sensor on the BPT will fit right into the BP block. At least mine screwed right into the Block of the BP.

there is a control box for the knock sensor, figure out what voltage signal comes out of it and go from there.

if you want to add a kit, look at the knocksense knock sensor. It is made for the megasquirt. http://www.viatrack.ca/

my car wouldn't start until I removed the MSD box with the MS. IMO it's worth more selling the box than keeping it since I'm not sure if you'll even see any gains from it.

I know I may not see much of a gain with the 6AL but the MS can't do launch control with out spending more money...can it?? Cuz with the 2-step I have launch control and I don't have to lift off the gas to shift at the strip, which means I never leave boost.

i'm sure you can do some sort of "launch control" with megasquirt... and you can set your revlimiter to whatever RPM you want, fuel cut or spark retard.

But than how would I tell it to go back to 7,000rpms when the light turns green. I'll start looking around, I never even thought about have the MS do the launch control for me. That means I can sell off my MSD. $$$

Well I took my MSD box and my car actually runs...better

Shortly after I put the box in, the car started just flooding out at random, and it would only start if I had my foot on the gas. I figured it was a bad sensor, I never bothered to look in to it, and now it doesn't do it anymore.

So I'll be adding it to my for sale thread soon.

I'll be ordering the MS and stim board next week when paypal gives me my damn money.

mine ran fine with the stock ECU but no real gains in performance and once I went MS, I went through a lot of BS with it so it wasn't worth it. I've read that those boxes are quite prone to failure as well.

And the dumb thing is I spent as much money on that damn box as a MS kit.
