    junkyard gems/oem upgrades

well a while back i made a post about the biggest oem bar u can get for a BG. i just seen a post about possably useing 3rd gen tubular trailing arms, then bpt323 said in the post to talk to nueman about this, well this must have been talked about before,i never seen or heard about this in the past
(or forgot) and must have mist it along the way of researching and seeing whats going on in the bg community.

This got me thinking, we should make a sticky of all the junkyard/oem upgrades you can do to a bg suspension/brakes wise.
ie, mx-3 v6 sterring rack(lower turn to turn rack),zx-2 front swaybar, 3rd gen front subframe, maybe the 3rd gen escort trailing arms, mx-3 wide track, ect, ect.
then as this post progreses, we can make a really nice clean list.

But with the throttle screwed on, there is only the barest margin, and no room at all for mistakes. It has to be done right... and that's when the strange music starts, when you stretch your luck so far that fear becomes exhilaration and vibrates along your arms. You can barely see at a hundred; the tears blow back so fast that they vaporize before they get to your ears. The only sounds are the wind and a dull roar floating back from the mufflers. You watch the white line and try to lean with it... howling through a turn to the right, then to the left, and down the long hill to Pacifica... letting off now, watching for cops, but only until the next dark stretch and another few seconds on the edge... The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. The others- the living- are those who pushed their luck as far as they felt they could handle it, and then pulled back, or slowed down, or did whatever they had to when it came time to choose between Now and Later. But the edge is still Out there. Or maybe it's In. The association of motorcycles with LSD is no accident of publicity. They are both a means to an end, to the place of definitions.

        3rd gen escort front subrframe
link to the subframe post =

        mx-3 v6 steering rack(quicker ratio)
        zx-2 front swaybar (25mm)

i guess i would be to tell people size/benofits of the mod to, if its a direct bolt on or any modding too make work, and even a link of pics or talk about the mod/upgrade.
        thanks

I've been wondering this for a while...I love using junkyard parts off of other cars as factory upgrades, but don't know what I should or shouldn't use with suspension...currently my car has stock suspension except for the ZX-2 S/Rs and Eibachs. How much wider is the MX-3 rear suspension, and what's involved with fitting it on a Protege?

Next time I go to the yard I'll pick up a ZX-2 front swaybar...never really thought about it and there's tons at the local yards.

The MX-3 LCA and TTLs are 30mm wider

For the front you just need to grab the MX-3 LCAs and cut off the droplink bracket to expose the endlink holes.

As for the rear, you need both rear TTLs, you can run your current swaybar, but you'll need to get some heim joints, talk to Ryan BPT323 about those.

It's a fairly straight forward swap, i'm not 100% sure if i'll end up doing this to my 323 since i dont have any TTL hardware anymore (damn parents).

wouldn't the 90-92 mx3 recaro seats count? since people do upgrade their seats to a racing/bucket style for autoxing for more in seat grip?

Also someone mentioned we can use 3rd gen protege upper strut mount assemblies front/rear so we can use 3rd gen springs/coilover sleeves.

Then 3rd gen protege shifters are supposed to be 15-20% shoter throws compared to our stockers.

BG BP automatic rads are supposed to be thicker as well for better cooling.

2nd gen BP/kia upper 1/2 of the intake manifold is 1" taller and has a different runner flow/style.

Kia BP axles are a simple axle swap if you've changed to the MSP LSD.

From what I'VE seen, 93+ MX-3 GSs come with a 2.25" catback exhaust system. At least all the ones i've ever seen (fit mx-3s, 323s)

Hope this has helped or confused

ALSO. VAF adapter comes STOCK on ALL Merkur XR4Ti cars. Takes a bit to get at them tho.

Not sure if the 2.3 Mustangs do either, the SVO's would.
