    Yea, just the GS models (V6) the V6 i bought had 2.25" the 2 my friend bought had 2.25" and they were all owned by older people that didnt modify their cars lol.

    I've seen about 7 or 8 GSs with the bigger exhaust at the wreckers too.

      ok, i went to advance autoparts today and got price quotes and amp ratings.

      stock pro - $155 w $65 core charge, 60 amps
      88 rx7 gxl non turbo/turbo - $99 w $50 core charge, 70 amps
      89 rx7 gxl non turbo/turbo - $129 w $65 core charge, 80 amps

      the alternators are the same for all models 88-91 according to part numbers on the casings, but the 89-91 alternators all have 80 amps. turbo or non turbo doesnt matter.

      i couldnt find a 90 amp model in their computer for any FC body rx. is anybody for sure about this being a swap over? my alternator is toast and id rather buy the rx7 alternator and get more amps for less money if its a simple swap. i did the leg work, somebody give me an answer.

          Went to the pull-a-part and managed to get the LCAs from a 92 MX-3 GS. No thanks to the damn MX-3 endlinks, luckily I had my hacksaw with me. Tried to get the TTLs as well, but as you can imagine the damn bolt that goes through the knuckle wouldn't budge. Even broke a socket trying to get it off. Will have to get a 3rd gen Escort Subframe later on. What is the year range for the 3rd gen escort?

          I will say the LCAs and TTLs from all the MX-3s in the yard look very similar. There were two base MX-3s and the one GS. Are we sure it is only the V6 MX-3 that has the longer bits? The LCA did look slightly longer than the Protege LCA. I'll try and get some pics with the LCA next to a tape measure later on in the week.

          If anybody has V6 MX-3 TTLs off the car please PM me.

          Oh and does anybody have the lengths for the MX-3 endlinks? I didn't have anything to measure with at the J/Y and the stud kept spinning in the endlink everytime I tried to unbolt one. Hence why I had to use a hacksaw and just the the middle section of the endlink.

            i can only say the mx3 GS(v6) has longer ttl's [only ones' i've worked with] the LCA's are the same for all mx3's

            One can assume 4 cylinder models would be the same but its hard to determine that.

              Thought the LCAs looked the same between all three cars. What frontsway bar are you using with your MX-3 LCAs and did you cut off the endlink tab to use the bolt holes or did you make a set of endlinks for the front as well?

How much wider is the MX-3 rear suspension, and what's involved with fitting it on a Protege?

              Next time I go to the yard I'll pick up a ZX-2 front swaybar...never really thought about it and there's tons at the local yards.
              Lucky you. My J/Y never seems to have ZX-2s, but they have plenty of "regular" scorts and supposedly the 3rd gen scort has a slightly larger front swaybar;

                      the FS 2.0 alternator only needs the pulley changed & it bolts right in place... id suggest a larger ring terminal tho for the power feed.
