    am i missing anything major.

    and also for the ECU?

right now i'm at 1.5 ATX

and i'm going to 1.5 MTX

    then next year 1.8 MTX;

would i have to get an ecu now..for the mtx swap..then another one..for the 1.8?
If your gonna do just the tranny swap now only do the F-box swap, putting a g in the Z5 will give a major issue with the right axle which has the hanger that bolts to the back of the block,I have done this swap and had to custom modify the axle to work.
Also z5 manual trannys are a dime a dozen.
You will need Tranny,Axles,Peddles, clutch slave cylinder, clutch master, lines for clutch, flywheel, clutch assembly/pressure plate and throwout bearing and fork, pilot bearing,PCM and harness,Plus im not sure about the mounts right upper should be ok but left upper front bottom and rear bottom most likely are different.
I know it sounds like a nightmare shopping list but if you get a donor car it wont be all that bad.
We are getting lots of 2nd gens in now that are going to the boneyard because the underbody and lines etc are toast .The cars are worth $100-$200 and will have all you need. Its alot of work if your going to swap to a BP later because you will then need another PCM and wiring harness, and going G series tranny means different axles again and left upper mount .
Really the best option is to do BP and G-tranny at the same time.
    Long winded post ends now.

      kinda weird;
doesn't the LX have a BP and a F series?
or does that come with a G series.

Depends on the year. Only the 95's came with the G-series, iirc.

I would like to make a list of BH BP factory parts for a Z5 to n/a BP swap. As I understand from reading the swap threads, there are many years of BP's that will fit, but having the right parts to install it into a BH chassis can be a hassle (at least south of the border). I have an opportunity to scavenge out of a 98 ES 1.8 (US). I can't remember if it is auto or manual, but if those parts are included in the list, maybe it will help someone in the future.

What I want is the actual factory BH specific parts that eliminate as much hacking and bodging to make things work.

From what I have gathered so far:

              ECU
              engine wiring harness
              downpipe w/O2 sensor
              intake manifold
              throttle body/IAC/EGR/TPS/etc.
air intake hose/MAFpassenger side motor mount/bracket (both or just part?)

Parts that I am not sure of:

exhaust manifold (is the BH manifold the same or different from manifold for the 90-94/99-on/Kia/Escort chassis?)
              other motor mounts?
              other sensors?

              If swapping the trans also:

axle shafts? (are the axle shafts different and if so, are the spindles/brakes?)
              shifter cables?

So today. I got around to do my timing on my engine.

My original car is a 98' but manufactured in August of 1997
The donor head was from a 98 but manufactured in November 1997

To my surprise the cam gears are completely different as well as timing belt.

If your new head has the double cam gear and your old one was a large single gear ,then you will need a new crank gear.IIRC the belt will still fit........Or are you doing a bp?

Yeah! I'm using just the 97 block. Everything else is 98. The cam gears, crank gear and timing belt is different

Honestly, it's probably not worth putting that much money into a Z5. You won't see much of a power improvement. I would say just take it apart, clean everything, new gaskets, shave the head, port/polish, maybe new bearings if you can afford it and slap it all back together. I currently have a Z5 as well and while I'd like to see more than the stock high-80's WHP, I'd never dump that much money into a kit like that.

hello all. im about to start looking into doing a bp swap, but i have a question about the motor used...ive seen that the pro es engine (along with other parts) of the same year lx or dx is best, but what about a bp of the same year, from a kia? would it be the same? as we all know, bp pro's are crazy hard to find.

forgive me if this has been answered already. a link or definite answer would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance! and sorry for the old thread bump. didnt see the point in a new thread.
