Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

Tonight I also added a steel braided clutch line, new outer tie rod ends, and Autometer electric oil pressure & water temp sending units. I still have to put the gauges (ProComp) in the cabin though.

I found out about the neon rad a while ago too! some simple measuring at an autowreckers worked fine!

You can also mount the rad infront of the rad support Dan, you'll have to cut some front grill support tabs, nothing major what so ever. That way you can use the stock rad/fan/hose setup

Also if you want a kick ass fan, use a 97+ Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable fan, they're 2 speed, 2200cfm and 4400cfm and are thinner than the Protege/323 fans! I'll be using one on the first speed.

My stock BG rad was busted so I had to hunt for a new one. Found a Hyundai Excel unit that I thought would fit but one the outlets ended up being right into the oil filter.

Back to the wreckers, and after 2 hours of rain soaked searching, I came away with a '91 Cavalier RS unit that I like a lot better. It has the inlet and outlet on the proper sides (albeit not the proper heights) but the way the inlets are oriented will make it easier to adapt the hoses. No fan yet, I'll see how much room there is left after the rad is in place, then I'll either get an Excel unit or buy a slimline fan.

I got 95% of the electrical hooked up and just about all vacuum lines and solenoids as well.

It's rained heavily for about 23 out of the first 26 days this year so far, but at least we'll not be going through another water shortage later in the year.

why didn't look for the neon one? it will fit perfect and the water inlet/outlet
are in the right place. i even have the part #'s of the hoses u need for the rad.

I'd like to see some pics of some fitted Neon ones - all the ones I saw had an awkward outlet at the top of the rad very near the middle of the rad and would have been right on the edge of the valve cover/disty.

                  Right-o.

In the meantime I trimmed my upper rad support to fit the long neck of the Cavalier (91 RS) radiator and I like the final placement. Pretty big core, too, so I shouldn't have any problems in the Cali 100+ summer heat.

The radiator, as seen from the firewall:

                  After trimmage:

And here are my final vacuum lines & solenoids.

The cavalier rad doesn't have pegs like the BG, so I'll have to make a couple of rubber insulators to make it stay in place. I might even solid mount it with aluminum brackets since the engine doesn't move anymore anyway.

Ive always used the pgt radiator in my swaps and it looked pretty damn stock to me.I wasnt afraid to cut my headlight bucket a little since it tucked right under the radiator support.I was wondering how you plan on getting the radiator to flow the right direction? The probes have the upper inlet on the passenger side, and yours is on the drivers side.Wont the coolant be running backwards through the radiator causing excess strain on the system? If not, then the escort guys can go along and use the stock lx radiator.I tried one on my first swap and it looked stock, but wouldnt warm up for crap.Heres a few pics of my swaps.

This was before i realized i could fit it under the radiator support.
