    motor mounts 1.8l

anyone here done motor mounts? is it a hard job to do. i think i may need to replace some mounts sense i have some noticeable engine rock but im not sure if i should get into it in my driveway

I did mine in my drive. The rear one is the most annoying to line up.

they're not that bad man. your best bet if you're doing both mounts is to drop the crossmember that they sit on. I'd pick up some silicone and fill the new mounts in so they don't flex as much.

Do not use Silicone. It does not bond to the rubber in the mounts and will fall out.

Go to NAPA/Carquest or a store like that which sells "Windshield Installation Urethane". That's the stuff you want to use to fill motor mounts

oups, thanks Skuce, i was a bit hung over still when I wrote that up :D

It's not that hard NJ, i'd recomment doing AT LEAST the rear one since the front mounts are fairly strong. Rear ones are weak and can be a pain to change sometimes.

                  science experiment bushings

the gob on the left is some polyurethane paint I left in a jar a few days ago. 5 days later it feels almost as hard as the ST bushing beside it.
I'm going to check it again in a few days (walks away mumbling equations) LOL!
Got some black left so I'll try it on a worn out mount

I had them also, they work well and are easier than attempting to cast in urethane.

well as we all now know, there's more than 3 ways of stiffening up your mounts. if anyone has any feedback as to how long it took to dry, how easy it was to work with (the material used to fill them) post it up!

I have the Energy Suspension urethane inserts on the GTR. It gave the car a rough feeling at idle but it has a great feel when driving.
