    Question for ppl running 17s

What is the biggest size tire you can fit without rubbing. Mind you I have sr struts,b&g springs(1.5in) and poly bushings so its tight. I just don't want to run 205/40 unles that's the only option. I was thinking more like 205/45 or even 215/40 or if possible 215/45.

I vaguely remember reading a 215 is the widest that fits, with some fender lip rolling. I think a 205 would be plenty though, unless you're really pushing the power, the rolling resistance would negate any positive lateral forces of the 10mm extra.

    gives alot of sizing info.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

I'm thinking 205/45 would be a good size. Its narrow enough to not have to roll the fender and tall enough for more cusion on the bumps. I don't want to roll the fenders lol.

but its so easy! just get a pipe of the right size, and drive with it wedged between the two! Perfect roll every time!

hey Chris, my friend Colin ran 215/40R17s on his 323 with 2" lowering springs. I think he had to roll the rears tho.

            215/40's.
No fender rolling and no rubbing.

I can't convince you against them so I'll say this.

Get the tire with the stiffest side wall imaginable.
That's the only reason ,I can figure ,that the tires AREN'T rubbing on the fenders.

sorry for not replying to your text chris, forgot. i have 205/45/17 and i have rubbed when doing really hard cornering, but i also had an werid offset on my 17's. get the right offset and go with some 45's and you shouldn't rub. i wouldn't go 215 cuz of the clearance in the back.

talk with mysta316. he is running some bigger 17" tires. he had them when he was DD his 12 second escort. it helped with traction a bit.

I'd worry more about rim offset than tire size I think. I had to roll my fender lips with 205/55 r15 because of the +38mm offset on my rims.
