    5am Mornings.

Finally took care of the headlights.

Also trimmed the condenser fan so the foggy grill fits.

These are custom formed and the residue was leftover from when I took the 3M film off. I used this stuff I got from Lowes. I use it to prep anytime I paint.

Starter took a crap week before last. Upon a suggestion, I replaced it with a miata NB starter. Smaller. Lighter. Makes a different sound. But it works. So back to being the dd.

I havnt noticed any difference. A hamster could start these motors. Was recommended on the CP Facebook group. $22 shipped for a "low milage" unit on eBay from seller SNSMazdaPart. Sounds a bit different, lol.

Well, motor is knocking. Was at a red light, in the wrong lane, so took 1st gear to 4k, then 2nd gear and I hear a clanking noise from the left side. Felt like the lifters lost oil pressure. No big deal. Driving and idling rough.

Fast forward to mile 20 of my 60 mile commute home, it all went to hell. Making a nasty racket if i have any throttle. Barely had the power to get over 65. Mile 40, it got REALLY nasty. So mile 50, I finally get into town and I put it in neutral and rev the engine slightly and I hear the knock, then I knew it was rod knock. Limp to pick my son up from daycare and limp it home.

Now to call the fence stainers and tell them to hold off bc i need a bottom end.

I'll be driving the Yukon and all 18.2mpg of its glory on my 120 mile daily commute to work. My wife wants to drive it and wants me to drive her car, but we will see.

For now, Maxine sits in the street until I can find the time to swap motors.

I'm the plus side, it should be a easy swap as I can assemble basically the entire motor before i even pull the old motor out.

So, Q1 or prob Q2 2018, she'll get motor. Maybe thanksgiving this year if i can work quick.

And to add, oil level is full. Still light brown. Oil pressure is 60psi on cold startup. 15psi warm idle and 30 psi highway cruising at 3k, even on the trip back. I have a Autometer manual oil gauge ran off of a sandwich between the block and oil filter. So I dnt know what the hell caused it.

And be anytime soon. Gotta source a short block and possibly head, depending on the metal shavings. And then gotta find the time between work, wife, dogs and 2 yr old.

I wouldn't mind a BP, but that's going to possibly mean more money, and it will mean more time with refining the harness, new Ecu, etc etc, and I would use the f series tranny since I have it and the clutch is fresh and I wouldn't have to source half shafts, new axles, etc etc so on and so forth.

Oh, new ditsy, IM, injectors (?), fuel rail (?), and I don't know what else.

you can literally throw an all inclusive DOHC head onto it(using DOHC headbolts)/ARP's and run it on the SOHC ecu/harness. you won't even have that dramatic of a power difference between ecu's/harness's.
just make a stockpile of parts over winter & tackle it as you can
