damn i want one! is the bp-t basically a direct swap? searching only yields fwd swap stuff.

edit: haha wow, just realized one of the only 5 threads in the general forum is all about the swap. thanks though.

it requires some modifications. passenger side motor mount, axles need to be hybrid, and some wireing and probably a couple other things that i'm forgetting.

The pic of the second GTX is not of a BPT. Thats the stock B6T. Did he give you the engine on the side, or is this just an old pic?

I have an 88 gtx usdm. First pic is what it used to look like, and second pic is what it looks like now. Haven't done much to it yet, still waiting on parts for it. Hopefully it will see life this year...

I'm pretty sure its a BPT with the B6 manifold and stuff, b6 dizzy etc, since it has a VJ14 and some other stuff. I still need to pay for and pick up the car, but not like the owner of the car would know, since its Mike Welch of Road Race Engineering I'm purchasing it from :D It definitely has the BP trans, since the sheetmetal end of the trans almost touches the inner fender well and my normal b6t gtx doesn't.

I'll look at the engine identifier, thats on the back belt side of the engine, right?

He must of completly modified the engine then. B6 intakes and manifolds dont just bolt up to a BPT. The VJ14 is stock for a B6T. Another give away is the valve cover between the B6 and BP are different sizes. That engine has a B6 valve cover. I would do someserious investigating to see fr sure, but from where im standing, tht is deffinately not a BPT, sorry dude. If you havnt bought it yet, talk to the guy again to get the full scoop since it sounds like hes sweet talking you, even though, 1500 for a no rust GTX complete with extras is a very nice deal.

And to Paul, Let me quit drooling over your paint job......... ok, now that is a beautiful GTX. Ive got to find me a GTX.

B6T has the dizzy on the intake, BPT on the exhaust. If it has a VJ14 it is a B6T, the BPT has the VJ20. BPT Oil filler is on the flywheel side of the valve cover, B6T oil filler is on the belt side. There are so many differences, its more likely to have th BG GTX trans on the B6T than any other possibility.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

Honestly, he might have said it was a BP trans only, I guess I considered it was an entire swap. Its not a good deal to buy as a second car, I already have a rust-free GTX that I bought for $1000 with enough cool items that I could put in my own BPT. I have a F-CON, HKS EVC 1, Rod Millen bodykit, ST rear swaybar some good front swabar, etc that I could just sell off. $1500 for a non-running stock suspension car with a better transmission and nearly the same miles doesn't seem like the deal I want. I'll post a thread with contact info and stuff if I don't buy it.
