Loco R, no need to keep stating english is your second language. Its mine 2, care less if I get burned, although every now and then you get the butt hurt member because someone is doing sacrilage to "his" language, similar to learn or go home.
Although sometimes a little search and some google check language would not hurt.

I should get my hands on a Kia transmission and experiment a little bit. There are some differences between the Kia transmission and the EGT/Pro/323 trans, for these purposes I will refer to them as the Gen 1 trans (EGT/Pro/323) and the Gen 2 trans (Kia).
The first and most well known difference is the spline count on the shafts and diffs, Gen 1: 26 spline, Gen 2: 28 spline. The Jack shaft on the Gen 2 transmission is also beefier (although I find it unlikely to break one). Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the shafts and the CVs are beefier too.
The Gen 2 case is also beefier with more reinforcement ribs and probably several other structural changes.
The final drive gears are also different. The Gen 2 trans has wider gears. The pinion gear in the Gen 2 trans is too big to fit in the Gen 1 case but the ring gear (the one that's riveted to the diff) will fit. The ring gear from the Gen 2 trans is only a little bit wider than the one in the Gen 1 trans but the Gen 2 gear has larger rivet holes. This may end up being an issue if you plan on using an aftermarket diff in a Gen 1 transmission.
I don't know about the other aftermarket diffs but the KAAZ diff for sure is made for the Gen 2 trans because it took some finagling to get it into my Gen 1 trans. There is also at least 1 other difference because I had some trouble using the Kia jackshaft and the tripot CV on that side is totally bottomed out.Last edited by ajax; 12-04-2010, 12:56 PM.Loose nut behind the wheel...

the pin has let go in 3 of the tranny's so far.
snapped two brand new axles on the joint by spindle.
its getting very expensive having to find a gt tranny every few months, little bas tards are hard to find where I live.
I would like to know if a kia will handle the power a bit more?
also can i use my clutch from the gt tranny?

I've heard there's no real differences between the 2 trans asides from the diff spline count...28vs the normal 26 spline Mazda has.
The benefit of the Kia box is being able to run the Mazdaspeed Protege LSD without having to change axles and what (MSP LSD is 28splined)
If you keep blowing diff pins, you need a better diff-Jack

Okay i found a 97 kia tranny for 195 pluss shipping. its on the way. where do i find out more about this protege lsd diff.. what would be the exact one o need? I have never ventured into anything inside a tranny before, just wanna make sure i get the right one. also will my clutch that im using with the gt tranny, will it work fine with the kia tranny? Because I bought a used protege BP tranny and the shaft was much smaller and could not use it unless I hanged my clutch and all that good stuff. just wanna mke sure i get everything right... thankx guys

IIRC, if you get the MSP LSD you'll want one from the 2003.5 Mazdaspeed protege. I believe the earlier models had some sort of problem with the diff. Make sure to have the diff pin welded also. In fact, if you're planning to buy one new, I would suggest getting an Mfactory LSD instead. It's probably about the same price (if not cheaper) and a hell of a lot stronger.
You can use your clutch with the Kia trans. Not sure why it wouldn't work with the protege trans. I used my escort GT clutchmasters stage 3 with a protege trans before. Before you criticize someone, first try walking a mile in their shoes. Because then you'll be a mile away, and you'll have their shoes...
