    Desperately seeking lighting...

I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to cars, and what I'm about to tell you is going to sound beyond stupid for that very reason.

My friend and I decided to install a new Kenwood Head Unit to the car, and it's left me with a bunch of problems. My entire dashboard no longer lights up, fuses smell like they are burning but they're all intact, and also my heater doesn't work.

This has lead me to believe that the wiring that connects with the audio unit is somewhat connected with the rest of the dashboard, including the A/C and heating.

If anyone has had any experience with this sort of problem or have any great ideas I could try out for myself instead of paying 100's at a mechanic, I'd be greatly appreciative.

    Thanks in advance,
    Bloodyhell

Sounds like an electrical short. I'd pull the stereo out and see if things come back to normal. You may have shorted something out while installing the deck or maybe the unit is faulty.
