    Help! my car is not starting, have a few questions?

    ive had the CEL turn on a while a go and a few days ago my car didnt start, i jump the TEN/GND and got a code 12(TPS). went to jy pulled one from an EGT and installed it. i turned on but shut off right away.
    also before i did this i disconnected the afm to clean it, but i yanked it off and i realized that wires were connected and now im not sure how to connect it. so i guess the connections and this is how i installed it:
    vaf
    can any one tell me if this how its connected or which wires go where?

    also i just wanna make if this is the infamous ground that i have read about that gives problems, the one on the tranny:
    tranny GND

    it was really dirty but i cleaned it up and sanded it lightly.

    can any one give me suggestions on what i can do to get the car running?

    im going to the JY tomorrow and get another one, if i were to get the TB w/ the TPS i probably wouldnt have to adjust it right?..

        if i do need it then ill PM u.. i dont think i messed it up b/c it turned on but it shut off really quick when it was wired like this...

          When you put the newer tps on did you adjust it right? Or did you just get a whole tb assembly? If the tps is the same on the dohc I have 2 sitting around I'd let go for 20/each shipped. They're from a manual dohc bp. Both are denso. I got new ones thinging that was my problem but it wasn't so they're just sitting there. They're 65 at the autoparts store.

            just the tps and i have been trying to adjust it right, im gona keep on trying, and there 90 here in MA and im kinda broke..

              well i changed the fuel filter thinking that maybe it was clogged up and no luck, can anyone give me a suggestion???

                hmmm

                Make sure that your VAF plug is making a good connection. Could be dirty or something. Also maybe the distributor? Make sure those are clean and connected as well. Also maybe the rotor in the distributor.
                Lookin' to boost my BP. Any help at all on this subject would be benificial to my success.

                  im gona try the rotor b/c i have never changed it since i got it. I found the FSM in this forum and it could be that the injectors are clogged up or dont work anymore. can the injectors from a DOHC work on a single cam? it took them from a Tracer. also sould it be the fuel injection fuse? its kinda hard to pull out from the fuse box....also i got another tps and its doing the same turns on and shuts off right away...

                    Starting and then dying right away is a good sign that your VAF plug isn't making good contact. Make sure that it's plugged in all the way and that the pins aren't corroded. Also make sure the plug isn't broken.

                    If all of that checks out make sure you don't have ant big vacuum leaks (IAC hose disconnected, stuff like that).

                        ok found out what that was, i was reading a few other threads and have read that TB gasket could be giving these vacuum leaks, and i have been trying to start the car w/o the intake tube which is connected to the IAC, so could this be giving me vacuum leaks?....
                        i also jump ten/gnd again and got code 8 the vaf, and did my best connecting the pins together, reset the code and i didnt come out again.
                        so could it be that i did right this time, i couldnt try starting it again b/c my battery lost power.
                        i would appreciate some more advice, its been almost a week without my car running.
