    Tranni seal replacement

Ok so I have a tranni leak coming form somewhere. I know of the axles seals, speedo gear o ring and shifter shaft seal. Is there any other seals on the outside of the tranni? I have fluid coming from somewhere that has gotten on the back of the motor/tranni so before I do a syncromesh fluid change I want to seal up the tranni.

Has anyone replaced the shifter shaft seal while the tranni is still in the car?

Hmm, is it coming from between the tranny and block? It can be the input shaft seal.

mine leakes from the shifter seal and HAHA no way to change it in the car you need to break the trans open, pull the roll out pin out the shifter shaft so you can slide it through the case and install the new seal. one guy i talked to said you could probably cut it off and reweld the shaft back together but i dont like that idea

Pull back the accordion boot and there will be a nut/bolt there to separate the shift control rod swivel thing from the shifter shaft.

True. Anyone have the part number for that? The last time I did a tranni fluid change I don't remember ever seeing one there, that's why I'm guessing it could be that. I just want all my leaks and crap fixed. She's a good reliable car and with the turbo and all the exterior/interior looking good I want to be able to pop the hood and see niceness as well. I have a bunch of seals collecting dust right now that I've bought and never got around to doing. Well the time has come to make her sweet.

i should be able to get a part number for you for that o ring.... but you could just as easily drive down to napa (in the MPV i guess, lol) with your speedo gear in hand and pick out a universal o-ring.
