    323Permin's 323 SE transformation into a GT

Well I thought this is a great way to share what I am doing with the rest of my fellow Mazda owners..

I have owned a few 323 models thru the years and got my hands on this super clean 323, and figured I would drop a 1.8L BP motor and 5 speed transaxle and complete with the GT 4 wheel disc set up into it .

So I went out and found a donor 1990 Protege GT to supply me with all the parts needed.

Only 156,000 original miles , lady driven , garage kept !!! sweet find !! to bad is a putt putt 1.6L SOHC , Automatic

So... I found the 1990 GT Protege near by where I live and didn"t waste any time tearing in down

It wasn't in bad shape for having 260,000 Kms on it .

Time to rip it apart !!!!!! Weeee

The interior was the first thing to come apart then moved on to the rear and front suspensions.

There was a bit of rust and stubborn bolts but all went smoothly for the dismantle .

At this point I have started cleaning up all the parts and getting them powder coated or painted. Prepping them to go on to the 323

Lots to do still .... Had to customized some Super Pro bushing for the rear suspension to make them fit , but the fronts are installed in the control arms . The complete rear suspension has come back from the powder coaters and I am starting the assembly !!!!

More pics to come of the rear and front build up before install in the 323 ...

Not much done this week , did some painting of the calipers and front spindles.

Still waiting for one more set of bushings to complete the rear end, so I can start the install.

Plus I need to wait till my Fathers car is out of the garage , so I can slip in the Hatchback to do the swap.

But I did get my new grill from Japan and will put it on the car this weekend .

Well I have gotten a few more things accomplished . Installed the center grill and factory red door handle I found at the wreckers. Also got the rear mud guards , I got off Beerizfood, installed with no issues.

Oh and I threw on a few decals... GT-R on the hatch .... I could dream thats it one .. at least have some people think twice ..lol and got the DOHC 16 valve decals on the front fenders too.

I finally got my last set of SuperPro bushing for the rear end .
So have started to do some assembly of it . Still need my Ground Control coil overs to do the swap.

All the parts are prepped , powder coated or painted . This is a shot of a few pieces.

All the parts going into the suspension are mainly brand new with the only rebuilt items being the calipers.

Next weekend the final build of the new rear end is going to happen then hopefully rip out the hatchbacks rear and front suspension and do the swap.
