Yup a torch and a heavy duty hydraulic press does the trick ... I had the same problem . The steel sleeves rust on the the bolt and are fused to the bolt .

I ended up taking both to a machine shop to get them off ...

Hope you can have better luck with a torch and hammer ... but odds are you will have to get new bolts from pounding on them so hard .

The Suspension Install Begins Now !!!

Its about time for the install .... started on it last week and ran into a few issues . Some rust in the rear strut wells . It was to be excepted and I did fine some ... lucky enough that it was not to bad .. I was able to grind it away and clean it up .

Unfortunately the rear strut spring top hat were bad enough that I am not going to use them ... had to order up some new ones .. so thats been my delay now . I will have all the suspension buttoned up by this weekend .. so lots more pictures to follow .

When you install the new suspension, apply lots of grease between the strut hats and the body of the car where they mount. That should keep the rust from forming again.

Well I epoxy primered, painted and then under coated the area before I installed the rear struts ... I am pretty sure this will do the job.

I dont plan on running it in the winter.

Its now going to be a fair weather car ..

Problem with paint is that it chips and cracks especially where the two surfaces mate. Grease is always pliable and will continue coating the area. In any case, Vancouver is mild in the winter and I am sure it will last.
