Rear BF Brake Drum to Disc Upgrade

Iso: changing my bf drums to GT disc and calipers.

Please give advise, as if this is a good idea.

And if anyone has done this.

My searches had had no returns.

    So be kind Turpro!!

      I should have the parts....

I have a GT with too much rust and no title since I accquired it in December, so I'm parting it out and making the hatch a B6T, well it's possible I think.

However my unreal fuel economy will disapear, no more 42+ mpg.
Maybe 26-28 mpg. I drove the car back to KY from OH, it boost around 9 lbs., says the previous owner, I think that is correct, it runs well.

Very well, I shall make that mod in the near future when I replace the struts and mounts.

      Thanks for the reply Sir!

Dont forget to use a disk brake proportioning valve or the rear end will be lock-happy

I'd be happy to hear if anyone has actually had a problem with that due to not changing the valve...

my self personally I was to lazy when I did the rear disc swap on my blue BF and I haven't had any problems at all..

Yeah I'm pretty sure all the Mecury Capri stuff will work, all capri had disks standard so check your junkyard

also without changing the proportioning valve...caliper piston is same size as the drum cylinder..volume wise

Does the escort gt have rear disc and if it does will those work? Ive got a 323 SE 4 doors not sure if that matters.

yes the escort GT have rear disk but i doubt it if it will fit your bf.....your best bet is to swap a rear end from a carpi or capri xr2.. 323GT....and i think the GTX should work

Is the 4 door SE rear end different than the hatch fwd? I know I saw a build on here where the guy swapped in a BP and used the rear disc and sub frame all from a EGT on to his BF hatch FWD. So I thought maybe I could do the same. But if its different than its different, nothin I can do about that.

Gtx will not work. The GTX is almost an entirely different car from the firewall back.
