    June 2009's ROTM-- Rayman

Well its been a while since we had rotm but now that its back it was a great success. I'd like to be the 1st to congradulate Raymond on the win. His 323 is definetly a looker and would whoop so ass on the track.

I have done restoration on a 71 Mustang, and I own a [technically Mazda] 1995 Ford Probe GT that is modded to the max and dyno'd over 400bhp. So I am no stranger to the KLs. I definitely consider myself an import enthusiast.

    323 bio:

I purchased it in July 2008 from Dan[sac], he has been a long time friend of mine through Probetalk. I knew he has a pretty tricked 323 with a KLZE transplant available, and I was looking at purchasing a DD as I was moving to SoCal. And the 323 fits the bill. I love hatchbacks, esp. old school, it has enough kicks to scoot around. I'm familiar w/ the KLs and it is a fairly reliable powertrain. And the price is right. All it needs was some TLC on the appearance side.

First I upgraded the suspension with Tokico HP struts and Sprint springs on all corners, and an Addco rear antisway bar w/ custom endlinks to compliment the MX-3 subframe swap that included rear disc brakes.

Then I set out to restore the sheet metal that apparently has been through a hail storm of some sort. I did everything myself from mechanical to bodywork. The car sits in flat black primer currently, but I don't have any immediate plan to paint it but eventually it will receive a paintjob, either returning the red or retaining the matte black look. Most recently, I have developed a 13" front big brake conversion which will be installed here in the next week.

                  Congrats Rayman!
This is my BP. There are many like it but this one is mine. My BP is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my BP is useless. Without my BP I am useless. I must drive my BP true. I must drive straighter than my enemy, who is trying to beat me. I must beat him before he beats me.

Is this the first 2-time winnAr? (March '08 iirc, in its first iteration).

Good job ray, glad you got out of the lazy bag and got the bodywork fixed up. Believe me, from here on out it's only machine sanding, no more block sanding (well just a little if you REALLY want to get anal). Paint that biatch now.
