People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. But there's one group that everyone agrees is made up of the most extreme, the most daring, and absolutely craziest people in racing - rally racers."

the starter will mount to the adapter plate, and the bellhousing of the trans will need to be "modified" to clear the nose of the starter.

yes but if it works, all of us are going out and getting toyota trannys and doing the swap and leaving the toyota guys with nothing. haha

IMO unless you are aiming pretty high, you should be pretty safe just putting a good LSD in your stock tranny. doing the toyota conversion with something like a stock gtx swap would be kinda silly. last i checked there are only a handful of us over 300hp...

I'm sure knowing the gbox will blow every few months has kept quite a few at bay from nearing those power levels...

Thank you for taking the initiative to start this driveline swap. Like the guys in New Zealand who offer a Celica GT4 conversion kit for the BG GTX/GTR, you'd be in a good position to offer a conversion kit or at least the adapter plate to make some coin to offset the R/D costs. As you can already see by the amount of people subscribing, you'd have a good lineup of people willing to perform the same swap if all goes well. Keep up the great work!

This is very cool---you know having the gearbox on a cable shifter would make it easier to move the whole drivetrain package (the "brain") to the rear for a rwd project...hmmm...good luck with this one Jon---please keep us updated!

How much longer is the toyota trans than a g-series? Id like to do this if I start breaking stuff but if its alot longer theres no way itll fit in a festiva.

IIRC you guys have a hard time getting the G to clear your steering rack etc. i dont think the E153 would be a good choice for you... it's pretty big

Ive got maybe 2-3 inches between the trans and bar running across the front and maybe a finger between the trans and rack. I could probly just notch the front bar and move the rack but I really don't want to cut into the frame rails.
