    mx-3_4evr's TURBO log

    Well my other "worklog" ("blown transmission pushes me for complete retoration") got too many pages, so I'm starting from scratch. I bought my MX-3 in December of 2006. I pretty much saved it from going to the JY. I went through 2 B6DE engines and a F-series transmission in less than 2 years. Then I got crazy and built the BP ITB. Now it's time for boost. (that made it seemed like I didn't do **** to it lol) And yes, all my N/A parts will be for sale once starts snowing here in MN.

    So I'm going to start from here. These are parts that I would like to gather during winter, so by spring I can have it ready for summer fun: (+ have it already, - don't have it yet)

    +Turbo exhaust manifold
    +Holset HY35W
    -AN- fittings for oil to turbo and drain
    -tap oil pan
    +Synapse BOV (recirculated)
    +Tial 38mm wastegate
    -Boost controller
    -Innovate boost gauge
    -2.5" SS turbo back, no cat, resonator, and a really quiet muffler (I might go with 2 mufflers and no resonator Magnaflow) All in V-BAND
    -Front mount intercooler (probably off eBay or craigslist)
    -2.5 intercooler pipes with t-bolt clamps
    +GTX intake manifold with a Mustang TB 68mm
    +RX-7 460cc injectors
    -255 Walbro fuel pump
    +B6T rods
    -Forged pistons (wiseco or supertech)
    -Rod/main bearings
    +GTX exintake cam
    +G-series tranny
    +Mfactory LSD
    -BP light weight flywheel
    -KY Clutch kit 2200#
    -Tune

    Also, I'm doing suspension mods as well:

    +Wytbishop polyurethane bushings 90A front, 70A rear
    -Powder coat front and rear suspension components
    -Whiteline rear sway bar
    -Ksport camber plates

    Comments and suggestions are welcomed. I will post new pics as I get new parts. Let the fun begin!

    You will probably want bigger injectors and intercooler piping. 460s don't give you much headroom, 550s would be better, and you should consider going 2.5" for the piping with a turbo that size.

      There! I knew I would want to go with 550s, it's just that I have 2 450s sitting around and maybe I could of used them lol. 2.5" intercooler if I go with the mustang TB...

        450s? Must be from a DSM. Either way, better to have a bit too much fuel than not enough.

        Stock TB opening is near as makes no difference 2.5". My last car had 2.5" IC piping and it matched up perfectly.

          Cool, good to know about the intercooler pipe diameter. The injectors came out of a 2nd gen non-turbo RX-7. I only got 2, they have the same connections as the BP ones. I will check the serial numbers tomorrow.

          This is the cheap ass turbo that I might be using. If I blow the turbo, I can get garrett stuff for cheap



          And this is the 60mm wastegate. If I want to run 10 psi, what spring rate should I be looking for in a wastegate?

            Those RX7 injectors should be 460s, not 450s.

            Depends if you're planning on running a boost controller or not, I suppose.

                I found this on youtube... He is using a 60-1 turbo @ a lot of boost! lol

                      a used holset should be way more reliable.

                      rx7 550's are only good to about 325whp, mine were going static occasionally at mid to high 80's duty cycle. a good lo-z injector like RC can take a little more duty cycle.

                        Some of the turbo Miata guys have decent luck with chinachargers... It's a bit like Russian roulette though.

                              ^ I dout it. I work at a restaurant, haven't gone to collage yet, and leaves with the parents... I just don't have too many bills. I'm probably the poorest guy on this forum! lol

                              About the chinese turbo, I will be only pushing like 10-15 psi. I think it will be fine.
