    August 2009 ROTM - analytical

Although this has been a few months coming, analytical wanted to finish up a few more things before submitting new photos for the ROTM winner's thread. I think the photos are well worth the wait.

The original B6 engine has been replaced by the venerable JDM BP-T. The small and restrictive factory side mount setup has been dropped in favour of a high performance front mount intercooler setup with custom piping. Pressure is relieved from the pipes via the Apex-I blow off valve. A Walbro fuel pump provides the juice to keep the motor boosting and an Autometer fuel pressure gauge has been installed to keep an eye on things.

To keep the uprated engine from destroying the stock drivetrain, a G-series transmission with a phantom grip limited slip differential has been installed. A CluchNet stage 3 clutch kit, activated through the Corksport SS clutch line, helps to keep power reliably reaching the ground. Nyloil bushings and a Matrix short shifter were installed to improve shifter feel and actuation.

With the extra power, analytical wanted to make sure the braking performance was on hand to pull the boosted hatchback down to a safe stop. The front 9” stock discs have been swapped up to a set of Willwood 12.93” two piece front rotors with four piston Dynalite calipers. The rears have been swapped from the stock drums to the same 12.93” two piece rotors but with the Escort GT/Protégé LX rear calipers. To finish things off, stainless steel brakes lines are found on each wheel.

For wheels, analytical has three sets!

    • 15"x7" Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 (13.2 lbs)
    • 17"x7" Team Dynamics Phantom (21.8 lbs)
    • 17"x7" Dronell D Power TS-05 (18.2 lbs)

On the outside, analytical kept things very straight forward and clean. A JDM three hole front bumper has been installed as well as a JDM GTR grill. Power folding mirrors complete the look of OEM upgrades.

Handling hasn’t been overlooked on this beautiful 323. KYB shocks mated to Intrax springs give a nice lowered look while providing improved road handling. Corksport front and rear strut tower bars keep everything tight on the top of the chassis and a full Energy Suspension bushing kit keeps things firm underneath. A custom rear lower tie bar completes the upgrades to the handling.

    That's all!

    Congrats on the win analytical!
I peered out from the castle window and looked over the splendor of ROTM county. Yes, twas' a much simpler time back then. Peasants would go about their postings, and I, the mod, would rule over them with an iron fist.
