    Timing belt... Crankshaft Lock Tool?

    Hi guys,

I'm going to be tackling my timing belt/water pump, etc. probably next
weekend on my 90 SE (B6).

I understand that I will need a tool to lock the crankshaft pulley in
place during removal (at least this is what the service manual tells
    me.)

I've found a few products on the web, e.g.:

First question is: is this the correct tool? If not, what should I be using?

Secondly: the service manual illustrates SST 49D011-102. This tool
has a long handle extending off of it, which would seem to be
necessary to help you get the proper torque on the crank pulley. But
the tool depicted in photos above doesn't have this? How is it used?

Any guidance or tips -- greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

No tool needed. Grab a friend/family member/loved one and have them sit in the dr seat putting the car in park/5th and pressing the brake. Then you go loosen/tighten that crank bolt . Free is good

You don't even need anybody to stomp on the brakes while you loosen it. Just put your socket and rest your ratchet/breaker bar firmly against the ground or unibody and bump the starter. It'll brake the crank bolt loose like nothing. Make sure to unplug your coil wire when you do this.

Main thread because my explanation sucks: http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18317
