Well I plan on doing a full gtx engine swap just waiting for the tax return to go through to pick up an engine. Ill be hunting for one soon......probably leave it stock other than that. I have my evo for my superfastness lol. I just need a little more oomph for my dd and decent gas mileage.....

youll turbo the stock motor way cheaper than buying the gtx motor. your better off doing that anyways, the insides are identical, and just as useless...lol... i already broke one rod, and split the crank....lol....92 protege lx-

oh jeez.....so im gonna go from my bulletproof evo 4g (haha also a phone) to a baby engine.....well I dont plan on making gobs of power....maybe ill just pickup a setup....although IIRC the gtx engine has a knock sensor whereas the gt engine does not....am I wrong in this assumption. I thought I read that somewhere....

the bpt can be faster, evo's arent exactly fast considering even stripped they dont get much under 2400lbs, unless you get up there in the power. i put under a grand in mine, probably under 800 at first and got an easy 256whp with a leaking blow off valve at 10psi on a mustang dyno. the evo motors good because in stock form they can take 450 500 hp, but you can also do that with an fe3 with a turbo too...92 protege lx-

makes me wish a fe3 would fit without extensive mods. the engine is cheaper out of the box from what ive been looking at. The evos are good at everything they do right away. Thats what I love about it. Also AWD IS GODLY albeit part of their hefty weight. The drivetrain holds up to a lot of abuse as well which cant be said for any bp fwd oriented driveline. I see a lot of people go through transmissions on here when they get up in power. I was looking at Yota trans but the guy who made the adapters have been gone for awhile and it's aleady a project when you have to space an engine forward to line up the halfshafts. I'm learning welding but it still may be out of my league(for now) but I do plan on some extensive mods......I always end up with lofty goals and no budget lol. I don't have the fab skills to do it myself but I'm hoping to remedy that.
So how did you only put a grand in and make 256 thats literally doubling crank hp and even moreso being whp. Seems just to get all the turbo parts together its about 400 plus the megasquirt(without anything) is 250. Then to get to 256 ud need bigger injectors and a bigger fuel pump. I guess you could get everything used for a lot less. I need to get this stuff together lol.
I reread this post. Don't think I don't believe you. I just wish I could find stuff for super cheap like that. Ive been looking and I think people are hip to the setups and overcharge a bit for really old parts.

Heh I guess it does drop in.....that's when the fun begins. Read through your whole build FE3-323 and its pretty awesome. I had read a few other threads where people said it wouldn't clear the hood, it would need new mounts etc. Now which mounts did you use? I see you did some other stuff that may not be necessary for swapping the engine in. Although it still seems to be an extensive affair with wiring and whatnot.....but hey what swap really isn't......you may have made a believer in me.

the wiring isn't a challenge either. you can run it off BP management. i've started an extensive project with room for even more mods. 80% of the applied changes to my car aren't "required" thats what people misjudge---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---
