4WD Shifter Cable BRASS Bushings (transmission end)

Just talked to the guys at speed-source today, they're boxing up my new set of brass bushings to test out. After I get'em tested and Sarge Approved, they'll be available for the masses! Probably only about 28 or 29 bucks per kit (2bushings, 2c-clips, and sandpaper to clean the pins.)

(Oh yeah, this is for the BG, 4WD protege. BF has different sizes.)

I haven't had need to do the bushings at the shifter-end, but maybe I'll look into that as well.

sarge did you get my pm i sent you a while back, skateboard wheel bearings fit the front most cable(dsm guys do it, thats were i got the idea from), thats what i used, also the rear most one i had a buddy of mine with a small mech. shop make one out of some kind of hard plasticy material he had at the shop, i never did get the name of the material, but i will next time i talk to him.
i did notice on the rear most one, that it sat funny in there, iirc kind of sidewaysish, if its not super cold tom. i will pull the battery and look at it again to further explain.

also sarge you are a mms member right?
well right now im restoring/building a 88 mazda gtx and might need some parts that are not offered from the local mazda dealer, but might be avalable from mms,

      here is the link.....

ryan1, I did get the PM, but I forgot about it, lol! I think that was when I was more focused on my AE86 engine build, and the 4WD was parked for awhile.

Maybe "Delrin" was the material they were made from?
I'll look into those parts and see if MMS has 'em.

Here's a small pic of what the Speed-Source bushings will look like:

they're shipping out today (missed the cutoff yesterday) so I may even see them tomorrow. Speed-Source is only down in Champaign, IL, so not too far away.

Totally. They're metal, and they won't fall out. If they do, chances are that your engine and trans fell out at the same time, and you've got bigger problems.... Could probably even safety-wire them in somehow if you felt like it. I'll be getting two sets myself, one for each 4WD. BOTH of them have the center metal tube that fits on one of the pins broken off, so I've got TONS of slop, like an inch or two. Might even make a short-throw for it after awhile, too, but that's not high on the priority list.

Well, I've got the first (testing) set coming in to my work, and I might just drive the car inside one of the loading docks and take care of it in the warmth, instead of outside at home. You might have to settle for just a video of the before/after play in the shifter, at least on the DD blue car. Unless you want to come up to Baraboo sometime when I'm working on the BP'd grey one. I need to yank the heater ducting out of an EGT and make it fit in there, so I have rock-solid windshield defrostability.

                            I need a set
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

stupid package got ripped open and the bushings fell out en route. I called them, they were going to send another set out last Friday (dec 18th). I'm hoping they get here today/tomorrow. Not looking good for today, since it's 3pm already.
