    GI: 1993 Mazda 323 GTR

Hi, it's summer time and I'm done with my GTR... miata time! It now has 74,000km on it... completely stock and running great.

    Located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada

What's this thing worth and does anyone want to buy it? Auction Grade 4. Two sets o' wheels. I'd be willing to deliver for the price of a flight home.

I have a feeling this isn't going to be an easy sell.

Ahhh so you were the other GTR Colin was talking about. Looks like you got the good GTR in Alberta and I got stuck with the lemon >.< If you come up to Edmonton let me know. I paid about $8k for Colin's GTR, too much IMO. I think you'd get $7500 if it's in good mechanical condition. There's some guys in BC who might be interested.

Hi, I suppose I am the other GTR... who is Colin? I'm sometimes in Edmonton and will probably be there in a month or two. I'm currently in Revelstoke for a month or so... I get around.

My GTR is in spectacular condition. It's always a risk buying JDM cars, I've learned this the hard way from my past JDM acquisitions. To quote a line from my favorite movie:

"Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes... well, he eats you"

I definitely entered into my GTR ownership knowing I could be stuck with a lemon. I think I really lucked out though and have been pleasantly surprised every time I get in the car. It runs great, everything is tight, strong and precise. Interior is beautiful, exterior has a few scuffs but overall the car is in really, really nice condition. Criteria number one for me in purchasing a car like this was it must be STOCK and low km's. These cars have tons of life in them if they're maintained and driven correctly but abuse will end them (and your bank account) damn fast.

I've honestly lusted after a GTR since I was 14 years old. I never thought I'd see one, let alone own one. I purchased the car at the start of winter as my ski car. First time I've ever really owned a car that I use every day and it's been damn fine for it! My _normal_ daily routine involves me living downtown and walking everywhere... my cars have always been little more than full-sized hotwheels.

All this being said, the GTR scares me! I can't treat it like a toy, as I don't want to break it. I'm not interested in keeping a stable of parts for this thing (I don't have the room) and that's basically what you need to do in owning one of these. Owning old, rare cars is a constant battle! Perusing the forums searching for parts and wrecks - buying whatever comes up. Been there, done that... got into miatas to escape it. I like driving the hell out of my cars - crashing them, repairing them and generally enjoying them as they're meant to be enjoyed. I can't do it with the GTR and it makes me sad. I'm selling it for this reason... no point in keeping it around until I reach a point where I can enjoy it. I'll just buy one (maybe this one) again when I'm there. Sure, I'll probably pay double for it but sometimes that's how it goes.

Plus, miatas are way more fun in the summer anyways!

I should note: This car hasn't been abused by me or, as far as I can tell, by anyone. I entered into the purchase of this car with the intent of selling it once winter was done.

Wait, it was in WORSE condition before you bought it?

Colin's GTR was in an accident, then he sold it.

            Nice looking car.

For what it's worth, I had my GTX shipped from Calgary to Toronto by rail for ~ $800.

I'm really not sure what the car is worth. I'd like 9k out of it with both sets of wheels. Am I crazy for asking this? This is why I have it posted under GI, which I assume means 'gauging interest'.

I'll take some better picture of the interior later but here is an example of how minty it is. The factory part stickers are still on all the headliner and visor pieces. The kind of stuff I would instantly remove off a new car but also the kind of stuff that becomes super cool 18 years later.

You should likely ditch the GTX and buy my GTR.

Nah, I've toyed with selling the GTX.

I'm more than happy with the STi. Next car for me is a North American Supra or a Nissan GTR someday.

Whoa, didn't even see you had an STI... you should get rid of both the GTX and the STI. Buy the GTR and a supra... it's the cake and eating it too.

The GTR is more fun, and cooler, than that old STI. And what's this about having two AWD cars but a Buick as your winter beater... no comprende.

I'd strongly consider this car but no one is showing any interest in my built Escort GT. It's built properly (engine, GTR turbo etc) and driven like it should be and has never left me stranded yet I can't even RAISE interest for 5k. I would have to sell it for maybe 3k.

So it's really a hit and miss with these cars and if it wasn't so difficult to sell my current project I would certainly be interested in yours.

Totally hear you, man. It really starts getting hairy when you're dealing with swaps and aftermarket parts and all that. Been on both sides of the modified car equation and it's definitely a buyers market.

I've ridden in this car and can vouch for condition and speed. This thing handles fantastically and is very fast. Overall an amazing car.

                          Someone should pick this up!

When you go to a dealer and you are goin to buy a "sports car", What is the first thing you want to see?

The Engine bay, very good job!

Any maintenance records, compression test, how much on timing belt, clutch, mods...

A sweet nostalgic talk about why you want to sell will not help much during these wonderful economic times.
