a metal one would blow off just as easily as a plastic one would.

Here's my idea: you could use billet Al, or even fiberglass, or whatever. But something solid. Use socket-head screws, or something similar, recessed within the cover, so the top is flush. These screws go directly into where the current screw holes are, that hold on the spring-clips. no way for it to come off, and it's held on solidly. If you REALLY wanted to, there could be some way to cover the heads of the screws, to make it all smooth. Or, the length of the cover, there's a channel along the screw-hole axis, that a sliding piece of some sort fits in, sort of like the way some window molding uses. Or, like a puzzle box type of fitment.

I think for making an aftermarket piece that slides in and is held in place like the OEM hardware, the cost would really kind of outweigh the benefits.

The problem I think is not the pieces actually blowing out because theyre held in pretty well even with the one screw. The problem (correct me if im wrong) is the plastic at its age of 16-20 years old is losing its strength. Once there is enough wind pressure it breaks the plastic mounting tabs off inside the clip. It does not actually blow completely out it breaks.

A trim piece made from metal and anodized black (extra cost) would be very nice and if it were to mount up exactly the same would be a great option for those who want a bolt on solution. I'm sure to keep costs down they can be sent in an unfinished form.
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

            well...... actually looking into this.
making the mould is the most expensive part of this operation.
required 50 sets in production to even look at making the project....

broken down would yield ~$150/side. but they would be made in AL and could be anodized or polished depending on what youd want.

I guess the main question is........... can we get (49) members with a 323 who would buy a $300 set of AL a-pillar trims???

as always id be first to jump on the list.

I'd likely be in, as the price sounds reasonable, and my new replacement set is faded. Might be a nice change to get them painted body colour too; not really worth it on the plastic ones that are just going to fly off again.

A little to pricey for me.

                Sort of off topic, but....

What are you going to be doing with the ones you took off my car before you sold it to dane? Are you going to not use them if you have aluminum ones made? If so, could I have them so that they can go back on my car, where they belong?

I went to a Mazda dealership and asked how much for the a-pillar, and they wanted $180 a piece. So 150 for aluminum ones are a decent price....

They came off when you had the car? dane said you took them off and were going to use them on your new 323.
