    Door Speakers

I dont know if this is in the wrong section (supposed to be in in car electronics?)

Anyways, just wondering if anyone has mounted any bigger speakers anywhere in the front of the BF 323. I took the door cards off yesterday looking for places to put door speakers, but is seems the windows come down too far into the door and are very close to the door skin itself, not leaving any room for the depth of the back of the speaker. Im tired of blowing the stock 4" front speakers all the time. It seems no matter how high end i go, they just end up blowing up in no time at all, and i have to run balance so far to the back you cant hear the fronts of over the back speakers making them useless. I would like to find a place for some 6" for the front. Has anyone figured some way of mounting them in yet? I will even ditch that door pocket to get a speaker in there. Do those door pockets come off without much trouble?

    Once again, thanks guys.

This is what you need to make 6" fit in your doors.. you can make them just with mdf and put some carpet on it..

The stock (or OEM) speakers of mass produced automobiles never compare well to their aftermarket counterparts. The same applies to head units, amplifiers and audio cables. Still, if your speakers continue "blowing", I'm doubting the problem lies in the speakers. The four, designated speaker locations (lower dash and rear deck) are not enclosed. On top of sounding awful, it would mean certain seizure for larger, bass speakers but it's hardly an issue for 4" satellites. The internal amp of modern head units produce close to 20WRMS per channel (-even if the sticker claims 50) and that's plenty fine for satellites IMO. If you're running an external amp, make sure your speakers can handle the power rating. If that's not the case, I'd recommend checking for correct connections. Some of the older head units had bridgeable channels with which one could increase the power, but it also doubled the resistance load.

At first, I stopped throwing money at the car and settled for some nice-ish speakers to listen to NPR (what else sounds good coming from 4" speakers? NOTHING!) on my way to work.

When those gave up the ghost, I just stopped caring and listen to my ****. Sucks, yes, but I'm not hacking up the car for some speakers that won't fit right anyways. If the car decides to start making funny noises, and IT WILL sooner or later, then fuggetaboutit.

Usally i leave the stereo off and play the "hey, where's that new noise coming from?" game. or just listen to the sweet turbo/BOV/wastegate sounds and pretend im in a rally car. F speakers!

Im with Terry. I love my music, But it is not worth cutting up the doors and door cards just to make them fit. Clean door cards for our cars are getting harder and harder to find.
Find a good set of 4" Sat's, if you have an amp and control, pull most all the bass out of the fronts (If you have a sub), and fine tune your mids and highs to not over stretch the signal. Too much high, or too much low will certainly blow them out.

What about some kick panels or whatever. They probably don't make them for these cars, but you could make your own to put larger speakers in. Then you won't have to cut up the door panel for larger speakers. Just a thought.....

My "kick bass" solution. The enclosures house 6.5" woofers and are screwed on from the back of the door card. Kick-bass woofers "only" reach down to about 80Hz or so -they're not an alternative to sub woofers. I'm thinking about completing the system with an 8" sub for the spare wheel, ...sometime. I won't be waking the neighbors or winning sound-offs, but I will enjoy my tunes at 60mph with the windows down.

Wanted to bring this one back from the dead because I don't see a lot of BF discussion for audio. Beyond the kick-panels and putting in a four-pack of 4" speakers, has anyone had any bright ideas the past five or six years on integrating larger speakers? Possibly into the rear cargo area or back-seats perhaps? Would also love to see if anyone's got tweeters set up anywhere.

Time to necro this thread again, in case someone's interested. Personally I just have some old 6x9 Pioneers in boxes behind the front seats. I found that to give decent sound, and if someone wants to sit in the back I can just temporarily move them into the boot. Plus I didn't have to cut any holes.

By the way, where are the rear speakers normally located? I think I know, but mine has upholstery pads there (next to the boot cover). Plus there isn't a lot of space there...
