Only if you come over here a fit your GT4 box into mine

But if you fitted it into mine you would be after some of those 16 Enki rally rims ive got, I think I better get and convert a GT4 myself

Well its been a slow job since the summer, My buddie Ian has at long last started to work on his kit car and has moved out of my garage and drive. So at long last the Mazie has got back in the warm and we can start to move forward again, very slowly but at least forward.

As you can see we have now ditched the dizzy and running the "Ford" style coil pack so the ignition is fully programable along with the fueling. Time now to find where all these wires go to

      More wires !!

Well that was as far as we got :shake:

It turned out back in the summer before Chatsworth, the problem was the MAP that was sent over by Omex, not all of it came through, so no matter what we tried it was never going to run. We took the ECU back to them and it was fully checked over and the raw Map was loaded.

At last she fired up into life, very very lumpy tick over but it ran, until we tried to give it any revs, all it would do was stumble and give a tiny little pop back up through the intake :wall: no matter what we tried no frigging revs :grr:

So back to Omex, had the map and ECU checked again, these were fine, checked and tested all the sensors and these all worked correctly. It turned out to be the injectors were incorrect. The ones I brought from the US were Low impedence and not high impedence so the ECU was not fireing them and seeing though I brought them 15 months earlier I could not get my money back :grr: So we found another surplier in the States and £340 lighter the new ones arrived. We also have gone up on the flow rates from 330cc to 460cc and now up to 560cc.

Injectors now fitted and wireing started to get sorted

New MSA reg "Teflon" fuel lines with adjustable pressure regulator with a large Bosch 44 pump at the other end

      Downpipe wrapped in heatwrap

As you can see, this is the next real big job, all the wireing needs sorting with a custom built loom

So today we plugged the lappie into the ECU and started to program the sensors, Air temp and Coolent sensors are done one at a time by putting in a cup of boiling water and plotting the readings on a graph in the software as the water cools down all the way to freezing, good day for it as its so freezing cold (the snow came in useful for cooling :D)

Set up the trottle position sensor and Map sensor as this is need to tell the ECU about the amount of boost as with this system you get rid of the large MAF unit.

Turned the fuel pump on and set the pressure at 5 bar, had a good look around, no leaks, turned the ignition on and prayed

:yikes: Two turns of the engine and she fired into life :D:D:D:D:D:D

3000 rpm until it warmed up and then she dropped down to a very lumpy 1400 rpm but it runs and we are so happy at last

Its still got a very long way to go before she runs right as this is only on the Raw fire up map and needs to be put on a rolling road to be set up correctly.

This is awesome. I'm one of the guys that rallies a USDM Escort (a.k.a. Mazda BG). I love seeing the history of race cars, so much different than normal cars. This is my car:

My car is practically showroom stock compared to even a Gp. N car, only basic modifications. Good luck with the build, I can't wait to see that thing in action.

It looks very much like a MK 5 FWD ford escort from over here

We have ditch the lot, including the MAF, dizzy, coil pack and the Mazda ECU

Everything should hopefully controlled by the OMEX 600 standalone ECU. Its not the cheapest of systems at £600 but has so many extra fetures which can be controlled by it and is rugged and relable set proven by the rally boys over this side of the pond

The main problen we have is the old loom for the ECU and engine bay as so much of it had been cut out. So we have had to go the whole hog and think about making a new custom built loom

Well time slowley keeps ticking and progress is painfully slow, but finally after nearly 2 1/2 years of owning the car she is now fully road legal with a UK reg 8)

We have had a little play at the front and at long long last managed to get hold of a GTAE front

Also the biggest job was the ripping out of the old unused wireing loom at fitting the new dash along with a new fuse board, all the fuses are now gone and on trip switches.

Hopefully she will be off to the rollers for a full mapping of the Omex in a few weeks time !!

I believe those calipers are just RX7 calipers. The hubs are unobtanium.

They are the same as RX7 caliper, but there is a differance in the size of the pistons, the rear ones are smaller.

I have just had an email saying my new clutch has landed in the UK

Now lets see just how much those thieveing basterds at Customs and the Post office charge me for the pleasure of delivering it

So all going well, we shall remove the gearbox early next week and at last we shall try and tame some of this torque
