and the obx isnt ghetto, its ching chong.

but ya as far as the quality goes, anyone who runs the obx without a brace has a broken manifold within a few days to weeks.

I am yet to hear of a SINGLE obx manifold fail that had a proper rigid anchor from the downpipe to the block to prevent any movement during launches/shifts.

so the manifold is still ftw and I am confident it will outperform the stock gtr manifold.

next season when I go with a bigger turbo I will try to weld my own exhaust manifold, but for now I am happy with this one.

and dont worry even my asian friends refer to obx as ching chong so Im not offending anybody

ended up picking up a egt parts car to do a feasibility test on the megasquirt ecu + egt harness with the msp harness handling the fuel pump.

pulled egt the engine, trans and added my new clutch. fitted manifolds. now i am just sorting out some wiring and doing the oil/coolant lines. will put the bp-05-T in the msp and see how everything works. if its ok I will swap the gtr/toyota drivetrain. figured it was worth testing it out on the lesser motor / trans since I picked up the car for cheap and needed a bunch of odds and ends from it like the fuel rail, pulleys, etc.
also had to make a custom crossmember for everything to work. ended up welding the rear of the 3rd gen cross member to the middle of the 1st gen crossmember. this way the front and rear engine mounts fit in. the 3rd gen has the motor mount on the block, not the trans so if you are using a bp transmission you need to do this or make one from scratch. also had to enlarge the front 2 holes for the slightly different bolt pattern.

ya i am using your T25 for this season. The biggest injectors I could get my hands on were the rx7 460cc so there wasnt much point on going with a larger turbo as these should max around 230-250whp depending on what fuel pressure I run.

you should definately come by sometime I am not far from you at all, williams parkway and mavis

so we will see what happens next week this should be interesting. Should have the engine in by the end of the weekend. then i will set my EBC to 16psi and we will see how long a bp-05 with 250,000KMs can last at 16psi from the saab T25 .48 turbo. should be fun.

It just trips me when he starts the thread and its like the ultimate mega shyt box you know. It is a ghetto manifold, honestly the only reason I did not install it its because I had to relocate the radiator etc and at the end of the day a buddy of mine from Puerto Rico sold me a custom one for almost the same price shipped. The person that I sold it to, I did tell him to use the brace even before he paid me. He was very aware the manifold was not a state of the art thing, but then again he was not after the best of the best like others post and repost to the point of redundant redundancy, LOL!

Besides, mine was re-welded by a reputable local shop which cost me an outrageous 125 to 150 to swap because it was some special weld whatever, when swapping from T25 to T3. It does not have the ghetto welds from OBX RACING.

I am still looking around, but there is a place that makes custom manifolds for around 400.00. Let me see if I can find the link, I know I got it on my favs...

you arent reading anything that I am writing. this setup is for a junk motor I pulled from a parts car that I am using to test the MegaSquirt in the MSP. Almost none of these parts are transferring over to the GTR build, and the engine is just getting grenaded once Ive worked out any issues with the EMS and electronics setup.

almost done the beta test build.

she is looking nice for a junker motor.
think of this engine as the 5th member of the away team from star trek. you dont know his name, and you know he isnt going be alive for long lol

either way for a junk testing motor its not too shabby and will provide me with some insurance since I have never tuned with a MS before, or used these rx7 injectors before (claim to be good, look nice, but who knows really, used is used)

                    clutch rated to 360hp
                    Saab T25 .48 housing
                    FMIC
3" downpipe and turbo back exhaust
                    2.5" IC plumbing
                    MegaSquirt built by Lex

I hope to put down 230-250whp, depending on what fuel pressure I end up running. At stock pressure the rx7 injectors are running pretty ragged even at 230whp.

and here is the GTR looking on jealously at the bp-05. dont worry the GTR will be built much better than the testing build.

Ok I am a TOTAL noob so please forgive this stupid question. But what engine is that motor out of? Looks like a Miata engine I know it can't be. Second will it bolt up the frame without major mods?

You can make fun of me now!

well the one on the stand is a gtr bottom with a mk2 vvt miata head (2001 and newer)

the one hanging on the chain is a normal run of the mill bp-05 out of an escort gt.
