While I'm at it I might as well post some more interchange info. I thought I'd already done that but nooooo....
1.8 BPT or GTR block to BG AWD trans, you want a 1.8 miata flywheel and a clutch kit for a '93 MX6. This has the step dimensions down properly.
GTR rear pads are the same as a '85 RX7 rear pad.
protege thermostat = 1.8 miata thermo.
    BG protege wheelbearings = '93 MX6, part # GA2A33047.
Eagle rods for BPT = 5233M3D.
BG awd gearbox front output shaft seals, part # T00527238A.
Need BG awd front halfshafts? Ask for a set for a '90-92 1.8 twincam protege. This trick works at least at Carquest parts places...
GTR rotors front and rear = MS3. I got Centrics at tirerack.com.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

I called corksport to inquire about their pads and it was confimed that they no longer stock them. He did suggest that I get the calipers and brackets from a speed protege as they have the same rotors and should bolt up. While trying to find those however, I learned that mazda6 brakes are a bolt on upgrade for speed proteges! Now if my braining is correct then that should mean that mazda 6 brakes will bolt up, be easier to find and mean that I won't need to go to the moon to get parts.

Calipers, pads, and brackets will be in tomorrow, and yes I will let you know if I'm successful or not. Alternatively you can tell me now that it won't work and save me a lot of time!

I'm not calling you out or anything, but corksport told me the opposite; have you used this kit before to re-build your calipers? Whoever I talked to said that because of the bore diameters it wouldn't work. If you're right then that's awesome because a re-build kit would be much less money/work than the swap idea I'm looking at!

I got this onfo from Corksport some number of years ago! And yes I did rebuild my RF caliper with it. How odd...

Allright! So I'm back on the hunt for a caliper kit. Do you know what size engine mx6/ford probe had ther same size calipers? Or does it matter?

All the parts stores I talk to say you can't get caliper kits anymore. I have a 93 ford probe front left caliper (funny story but the 91miata uses the same one) and just compared the size of the piston - the gtr is much much larger! So I'm definitely going to need the specs of the car to make sure I get the rightkit, there's no way just any of them will do...

yes. the 3rd gen protege/speed protege uses the same brakes as the 93-97 ford probes. both 4 cyl, and v6's have the same size brakes also. the mazda6 set up will bolt up to all of those also.

I'm not sure what to say - all I know is I got a 93 Ford Probe Caliper from a Ford dealer, and there's no way a re-build kit could work for that, they just aren't the same size!

I'm getting the mazda6 calipers/backets/breaks tomorrow. Gonna try and fit them in my driveway in the dark and in the snow, should be fun - so you're saying they should bolt up? Thats good news, hopefully they'll also clear the 15" rim!!

lol you want to mail it to me maybe What car are you going to get it for though, because if the piston is that much smaller for the probe caliper I have I don't see how it will work!

I'm gonna try to get a kit for GTR calipers, so 93 mx6.

Well for whatever reason the other guys can't get it, napa can! 93mx6 V6 front caliper seal kit coming in tomorrow morning. I'm still going to try fitting the mazda6 brakes tonight, because that could turn into some good news for everyone anyway.

if that probe caliper you have bolts onto your GTR hub. then the mazda6 set up will also.

ive never even seen a GTR, so have no idea if any of those will fit on it though.

The probe caliper is much smaller than the GTR, that was what I was trying to show in that pic. As for the Mazda6 stuff, it's a much larger caliper but the bracket is thinner and not as beefy as the GTR and so needs a spacer to make up for that. The 6 also uses thinner bolts, so I have a few hurdles to get over before I can mount them - and even after that I don't know for sure if they'll clear the rim. Gonna try and find a machine shop today and see if I can get some bolts and spacing rings to get everything to line up.

A friend of mine also mentioned that P5 breaks were definitely designed to clear 15" rims so I'll talk to my parts guy and see if he'll lend me the bits for one of those as well. He's a nice guy and has been very helpful, so I really hope I'm not pushing my luck!

Failing all that, my MX6 rebuild kit will be in today. If nothing else I can try re-building the original caliper and hopefully can get it working again.

From what I've been able to find the gtr calipers are oddballs that don't interchange. Why this is, when the rest of Mazda's stuff interchanges like orgy participants at Plato's Retreat, I don't have any idea. I'd love to find some 4pots that bolt up. I ain't gonna play with brackets or modding boltholes or any other such foolishness, not with what is the most important part of the car.
