Escort Gt Restoration/build. Lots of pics

Buddy of mine give this to me , becasue it was the doner car for his engine swap. Body looks great, so i was pretty suprised when i looked under the car. The car spent some time up north im guessing.

The Rear Left trailing arm bracket and parts of the frame rail was pretty rusted ...

I cut my self alittle acsess door ,lol the area was rusted and will be replaced.

    the damage exposed.

the rail cleaned up alittle with the trailing arm mounting bracket removed.

Card Board Template I'm going to use 14g sheet metal for the repairs.I'm not sure yet if i will remove the damaged are or just cover it .

Wow, that looks like a huge project. Hope you have the time and effort to carry through all the way. It's always amazing to see what people start with and what the final project is. Good luck to you!

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Thanks. I don't paln on a full resto. Id like to get it drivable and just give it a few more good years before it has to go. there is rust on other parts but this is the worst , the other side looks nothing like this. I wont put alot of money into it. im thinking get it streetable. Bp Turbo it , give it the old rattle can flat black paint job see were it goes from there.

Rough Build plan(not a complete list just a rough idea of what id like to do):
                        Fix rust.
                        Remove power steering
Remove AC system (including under dash)
                        wire tuck
                        maybe shave engine bay?
replace any worn suspension parts, lower.
                        Bp05 engine
                        B6t rods
Stock pistons? or pistons form a bpt if i can find them.
Turbo (i have a Hitachi HT-18 turbo from FC turbo II not sure if it will work, looks like a t3-t4 48trim i think)
                        MegasquirtII running speed density

                        Shooting for 260-270whp

Whelp got up under the front of the car...its to much for me to handle to much of the rust is in structal locations . I'm gonna scrap this project, I'm so pissed. I have never seen rust this bad on a car built in the last 2 decades. Is this kind of rot common in BGs. i will be stripping it ,let me know if you need any parts.

That blows. And No its not that common to have that much rust. Common spots are the strut towers, wheel wells, and rockers..
