Well originally I gutted the stock midpipe ... but that in combo with the header made the car sound rhaspy and ricey as hell. I got the dual-cat to pass emissions but noticed that it quieted the rhasp from the header ALOT, so Im sticking with this setup till I can figure out something better

Here are a couple shots from before the painted valve cover:

and this one is after, however, it isnt a great pic. I still need to get a good pic of how it all looks

Wrapped and coated the header today.

... and a video of the smoking header at first startup. Holy smoke batman!

      UPDATE:
So I took her for a spin, had to come home after about 10 mins cuz the header was smoking so bad it looked like the car was on fire due to all the smoke coming from the bay area.
Also, the header lines up even worse with the midpipe and sounds like complete ass ... major exhaust leak. I hope Ken gets on his **** and gets my SLS midpipe here quick. It should line up better b/c of the flex joint at the flange

Installed the SLS catless midpipe today after work. The only downside is you have to provide your own hardware ...

The hardware I intended to use:

...but had to dig up some longer ones for the front in order to fit:

Finally a snug fit to the header :D

          FIRST DRIVE UPDATE:
Love the louder tone, the only problem is that in the high end the muffler "farts" just before the tranny shifts, a better muffler might do the trick, but will a silencer for the tip solve the problem as a temp fix?

Why did you remove the screen from the maf? Isn't it there to protect? Nice car

              Thanks man.

The MAF screen isnt really there to protect, it is there to even air flow. But the degree to which it does is minimal. So really it is just a blockage in the MAF

This thread describes it a lot better than I can:

                Old and new:

                Old, ick :p

Also I took a clip of some passes with the car to show off the exhaust "farts" but you cant really hear it. It actually sounds not too bad lol. But trust me in real life it is awful lol

So like I explained, with the new catless midpipe, my unnecessarily large muffler sounds like ricer asshole. I did a bit of searching for a good sounding exhaust for my car and came up with the stock MSP RacingBeat exhaust.
I contacted a member over at Mazdas247 who had one for sale, worked out a deal, and will be picking the new exhaust up on Sept. 4
I really cant wait since Im kinda embarrassed to drive the car with it sounding so bad lol.

                  Here it is:

                      Thanks man.

With the E3 spark plugs it almost feels like the car is a little more "eager" but that could just be me.

I have not tried NGKs, but am open to what anyone has to say about them

I chose the E3s b/c they create a much more efficient fuel burn

Did a bit of research on both. E3 seems to be the better choice...
