Australian Ford Laser TX3 (56K Die)

    Hey all,

Yet another Aussie member on board, thought I'd share my pride and joy with you.

Bought it back in 2007 in a sorry state, but a good basis for my first restoration

First job on the cards were the typical mods- lowering 25mm, clear guard indicators (from a 2005 Ford Falcon), clear front indicators, sound deadening the wheel arches, and of course respraying the infamous TX3 rims and calipers

The paint was FLAKING every time I washed it, so as a 20th birthday present I got a bare metal respray in Ford Velocity Blue. Door jams, boot, everything done minus the engine bay

(I chose the TEXXXY plates as it's a TX3, and it has XXX appeal I hope)

The usual stereo upgrades were added, which makes 135dB. Kinda loud in such a small car :D

Next on the list was a set of ROH Shift R rims, 205/45/16" tyres and darkest legal tint

Meanwhile I was converting all of the lights to blue LEDs

(Note the custom gauge surround I made)

Standard TX3 dials sanded back with white LEDs and painted needles

Got a FREE Mazda GRX bar with intercooler cutouts, perfect for my next project (Worked Mazda BPT conversion)

I added my own custom power windows with Holden Commodore switches mounted in the centre console

When I got my front bar resprayed, got my garnish colour coded too (top half needs smoothing)

I like those headlights and grille a lot better than the escorts. I wonder if it is a bolt on swap? if you get a new bumper or trim the stock one of course

Sadly, the headlights and such do not mount like ours do.

You can try using tracer lights. They are very close in size/shape and they're bolt on too. Maybe have someone mail you a grill? Too bad Corksport doesn't carry both lights and grill anymore.

Very nice TX3!!! I've always wanted to import one. Maybe one day...... lol!

You can still get all the kh/kf parts from OZParts new if you really wanna convert the front end. Skuce has already attempted this swap and it was not a bolt in deal.

ya right! like all the BP powered cars we have eh? we only have BP powered Miatas, and BP powered Protege GTs which only had like 1,500 ever made and 500 in 93. So they're rare and generally rotten!

I drove all the way down to Atlanta Georgia to pick up an USDM Protege LX! lol

Welcome to the boards very nice car
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
