    shifter dropped through floor again!

Ok, my shifter just fell through the floor again, even though I put in a different (but used) mount.

I remember reading somewhere that you can make something to hold it up in place with, like some sort of plate, or something. I can't remember for sure what it was, but I know I read it either on here or feoa.net.

Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

lol someone just made a thread on this. You've got a couple options, you can make the anti-drop plate or you can put 2 self tapping screws in the side of it and fill it with window weld so it won't fall again.

then your transmission case and that stud that the stabilizer bar is bolted to absorb the shock that the rubber absorbed before. It can actually crack the case and wear out that stud.

I drilled 2 holes thro it and the floor of the car. Used some weather stripping around the plate and bolted it to the car. Still has the rubber piece to absorb the shock and does not fall down. Mine fell at the best time ever.... 60ft down the drag strip hahahah

worked great on the two we have done it to with zero issues. and what shock is it absording? the force of your hand shifting it? its not a motor mount caring a massive load.

no, when the motor and transmission move back and forth if you don't have solid mounts. I've seen it happen before.

Using stock mounts or worn mounts with the shifter either welded or bolted together, engine rocking can cause case damage to where the stabilizer bar bolts to the trans. My case has had this happen to it before.

I welded a drop bracket to the shifter base plate that the assembly sits on, there is no extra stress on the case this way
