spring BRAND has nothing to do with the ride harshness or smoothness.
The first thing to do, is determine the spring RATE that you want. Then make sure that your damper (shock/strut) is VALVED for that spring rate.
Lots of stuff is too 'harsh' because it doesn't match properly. People put coilover kits over their stock struts, then put some high-rate springs on there. The damper will not be able to control the compression and rebounding of a spring that's higher pressure than it's valve rates. This equals crappy ride, and a shortened lifespan of the damper and other suspension components.
That checklist above is actually pretty simple to do, and not that expensive, until you skip doing the math, and just start tossing springs and dampers at it until you find one you like.
