    The other day...

... wifey complained about just another noise from the car.
Will she never understand that a high mileage beater makes all kinds of funky noises? LIVE WITH IT.

But ok, after some bitching DH went out to have a look.
And hey, she had a point!

No, the car is SOLID!!! ONLY the strut mounts rusted away! The Mazda-metal under it was 100% fine!
The Tokico struts are also fine and still in there.

friend looks like a busted strut mount. you have to be VERY CAREFUL with that coil spring, once you undo the strut at the knucle is going to come out of there like a bat out of hell. you need to figure out how to relase that tension so you or any body else gets hurt. good luCk..........CARLOS

The struts might be blown out also. Same thing happened to my car and bye bye tokico blue struts. The still keep me from bouncing up and down while i go over bumps on the highway but they dont take the shock if i go over a hard bump. My wheels hit the top of the wheel wells. So just make sure you give it a nice look over.

I fixed the car as soon as I saw the issue (other side too as a preventive measure) - and I did use a spring compressor
        (borrowed from Autozone)

        The struts are good!
The car is jacked up in the picture which is why it may look as if they collapsed.
The spring of course expanded at the same time.

could be a brand issue, i kept bringing back Monroe brand rear mounts because i would tear them a new center hole in less than 2 months lol....

primergy, seems you're experiencing what most BG owners go though lol, just make sure you rust protect the inside and outside of the rear shock towers, they have been known to rot away to nothing....

hey MAZDA POWERED, are a lot of guys having problems with the monroe strut mounts? what are the main issues? the reason why i ask is,im getting ready to order all 4 to do a spring/strut change in my car. if has to do with the real cold weather that you guys have to deal in your area?or because the cars are lowered to the max? i have not seen that problem in my area, i have no problems with the weather were i live. i will like to know your input on this, thanks
