    New Summer Car

My 99 MX5 was starting to show it age, so it was time to replace it . . .
with an even older car! The new car is a 1989 MX6 GT 4WS. and as an added bonus the 4WS works! as an added added bonus, it is an early 89 with out the auto seat belts.

It is the first week of the summer semester here, so I am crazy busy, but I'll get some pics up soon.

all 88-89's dont have auto seat belts. thats only the 90-92's.and the 4WS works on most of these cars. this isnt the honda 4WS system, the mazda set up actually works, works well, and is reliable. lol.

nice purchase. ive owned 4 1st gen mx6gt's over the years. and currently owned a 1st gen pgt, and also my built FE3 swapped 626GT. there tons of fun, and i dont plan on ever not owning one of these cars.

I drove the car more last week then it was driven in the last 2 years. The last 2 nights, I've picked up a 4WS check light. It does not come on when I drive into work, but on the way home it will come on and go out for about 10 minutes. I need a new muffler; Mazda does carry it anymore and the aftermarket listings are for "except 4WS". I'll have to talk to an exhaust shop and see it they will cut and weld in a "plain" turbo muffler. Anyways, here are some pics

It looks better in pics than in person. The paint is not bad, but there a quite a few scratches and parking lot dings. It is a 1 owner car, 171K, runs and drives great, no rust! It needs some work here and there, but overall I happy with it. It was listed on e-bay last summer starting at $4500; I would have been dispointed at that price.

it wouldnt have sold at that price. lol. it would have to have under 20k miles to pull that kind of cash. going rate for these depending on condition is $500 up to as much as $2500 if its a rust free car.

that car does look really nice in the pics. and having the 4ws option is always a plus.

I paid the top dollar on your scale plus almost $900 for shipping. Plus, I need to put somewhere around $500 or so in repairs. So, all-in I'll be in that $4000-$4500 range, but really what can you buy for that money that would be better?

I think the 5-door are the best, and that was what I was looking for, but I coudn't pass up the 4WS. I still think the 1988 to 1993 was when Mazda put out the best cars. Mazda has clearly put out great cars before and after, but as a whole from the "lowly 323" up to the 929 just a great line-up. . .too bad Ford stepped in.

What does the 4ws feel like? how does it improve the higher speed handling or just lower speeds?
