    Sunroof sometimes doesn't close

Basically as title says. Most of the time the sunroof works just fine 95% of the time. But that rare 5% of the time the "slide" function won't close. The tilt up and down works fine, and even the slide "open" function works, but the "close" function decides to say F- you and won't close when I hit the close switch.

Anyone know what might be wrong? I also have a spare sunroof motor in my donor car that I know works 100% of the time, but I'm leary of swapping it if it's an electrical problem and not a component problem.

I sometimes experience my sunroof not wanting to slide all the way forward until I press up on it, until that happens the tilt option won't work. It's probably just an age related issue, or something is misaligned on the tracking system.

I fixed the problem. Turns out the switches had bad connections on the close function side. I just switched the switch and light panel from the other car and problem solved.

BTW, I figured out you can manually close the sunroof in case it's stuck open with a hex key by turning a hex nut inside next to the sunroof motor counter clockwise.

if you look in the repair manual, there is an adjuster nut that if you turn a bit, it increases the power... lemme find it and I'll attach it here...

lol... I've been dicking around with my sunroof for a while... I had the same problem, still do; had to push on the sunroof a bit to help it open. but only at low RPM when I was cruising down the highway, I had no problems at all... I'm going to try that adjuster once it's installed...

Hi, i am having an issue with my sunroof. It opens but when it comes to close it, i have to help it manually. Seems that the panel tillts a bit before it completely closes to make the seal...then it gets stuck. Does anyone have a link to where to download the mazda protege 2003 repair manual? Can't find it over the web. Thanks.

The problem i am having seems mechanical (checked the motor abd it's not loose).
                            - When you open the panel, the glass kind of tilt down to break the seal with the roof then slides all the way to open position (same as any sun roof).
                            - When you close the panel, in normal situation, the glass comes to completely close position then tilt a bit up to make a seal with the roof.

In my case, it seams that when I try to close the glass it happens that it tilts up sometimes in the middle of its way to close position, sometimes right when you start cloaing it and sometimes right before the completely close position...then when it tilts a bit up it gets jammed/stuck inside the roof ! Then I have to help it with my hand to have it completely closed.

This is the issue I am having...

Do we have any kind of drive shaft or anything like this in the system that may be got damaged, unset, moved...?

My motor, close/open, tilt up/down all work fine, it doesn't seem to be an electrical problem.
