clubprotege website 3.0 - ideas and critique

so let me lie out the rough idea i have for a new website front page/introduction. when i created the old one, i was thinking in terms of the small community and giving us something lively and animated that would be catchy.. unfortunately, it comes off as being , well, amateur, and didn't exactly do what i was hoping to do.
it's "cute", but if we want to attract new users to our badass forums with all the snazzy new features we have planned, well, we need something badass for them to show off to their friends and a website it's cool to be a part of.

so the basic concept behind the site is as follows. full page flash animation, maybe a medium blue as a background, with use of 3d untextured wireframe models in white, spinning and morphing into each successive generation gratuitous use of animations such as spinning Mazda logo at the end, or a spinning turbo compressor wheel, maybe even an animated 4-cylinder motor showing stroke detonations, etc etc.

to give examples, a friend of mine created www.sddnb.com a few years back, and while small in scale, implies the kind of flashy intro I'd want newcomers to the site to experience. not for a content site (yet), just a basic flash introduction before a redirect to the forums.

i have already located some suitable 3d wireframe models that can be used royalty free when purchased. an investment for sure, but well worth the extra traffic in the long run. perhaps a fundraising drive from the core members of the forum towards necessary components needed to create the site would work, maybe a raffle, maybe a sponsor. certainly I'll work on any of those aspects later, but now I'm kicking around ideas for input.
here are links to some of the models I'm talking about.
    1st gen 3d wireframe
    2nd gen 3d wireframe
    3rd gen 3d wireframe
    mazda 3 3d wireframe
    turbo wireframe
    spinning Mazda logo (textured)

now, before you think the wireframes and go "OMG they're expensive!", remember they're royalty free with unlimited use. meaning, we could make scenes with digital roads, cars with custom graphics, vehicle animation sequences. clubprotege logo action sequences (i.e. a car drives through the "o" in clubprotege, etc etc. all fully 3d positionable for any future artwork we need for the forums. some popular 3d car games can import additional vehicles too. how cool would that be to have a clubprotege car to drive in a game? or yours?

anyhow, just tossing these ideas out there. I'm more than capable of doing the website work., just want your guy's feedback.
Guess who's back, back again. cable's back.. tell a friend.

Maybe instead of the cars morphing from one generation to the next, they could each zoom by one at a time, in chronological order of course. With the camera set low to the "ground" and the cars alternating going by the left then right then another shot of all the cars together maybe driving around some twisty roads in a line. At the end you could use both the turbo compressor and Mazda logo. The compressor could start spinning and when it stops spinning it's the Mazda logo. Unless that would be too much work, I'm not sure.

And maybe we could get Corksport as a sponsor since most, if not all, of us have ordered from them.

excellent. i particularaly love the compressor slowing to a mazda logo. could be tricky, but hella sweet.

Thanks. Maybe after the little video the cars would lined up and you can go to the forum homepage by clicking a clubprotege banner above or below the cars or click a specific car and it can bring you to that model's sub-forum.

If I think of anything else I'll throw it in here. I'd love to see this forum grow. If I had the ability to do any of this stuff I'd definitely help. But I guess I can do my part by giving ideas, haha.

BF 323 followed by a BG Protege then BHA protege then BJ Protege finishing with a BK 3? How's that, haha.
