and it does its job! I actually picked up an original and was thinking why the heck was it replaced by the powerade bottle, then I figured it out! Its due to the awesome intake!

yep. i put that in when i was living in kansas and had just gotten the hks intake and it wouldn't clear the tank. it was hot out and i was drinking a powerade so it went in.

        Smallish update, no pictures.

I've been busy clearing my garage of spare/uneeded parts. Now I have some space to work!

Hoping that in the next week the motor and tranny will be back in and I can enjoy the car again! Gotta finish cleaning the trans and motor, bolt them together, and replace a few more seals/gaskets. Got some more goodies for my plans. Will post pictures soon!

            Bad/Sad news

I was changing the rear main seal before droping the motor back in. Discovered I have a badly worn thrust bearing So I have two options for an imediate fix.

1st and most likely option is going to be to throw in one of my 1.8 liter motors using the stock bf gtx tranny.

The 2nd option is head over the boarder and check out a b6t replacement motor. It looks rough though and I am not sure I want to throw money at it.

The 3rd and least likely is to have this one rebuilt.

If anyone has any leads on info regarding a 1.8 swap while keeping the stock bf tranny I'd appreciate the info.

Hmm, thats what I was fearing. Maybe I will go take a quick look at the local motor and see if it is in usable condition. Thats more work than I want to do right now. I need to get a car running lol.

are you certain the crank has to come out to get the thrust bearing out?im thinking maybepull the main (3rd?)and spin the thrust bearing out?Its been a loonng time since I last built a bottom end.so memory fails.

just had a smoke in the garage a grabbed the front pulley on a well aged b6t a there was a good "thunk" pullin/pushin .That motor ran like a champ. You can't see it but it's movin.I'd run my motor in a pinch.Just sayin'

Same issue sounds like. I may just run it for now, as the long term goal is to get it properly swapped to a twinscroll hx35 bp.

I'd double check the crank side play, there's been a few cases on CP where people measured because they were in a similar situation, but turns out it was within spec.

I decided to just run it. It was running fine before I pulled it so it shouldn't make much of a difference. Im not gonna push it real hard because I want it to all hold together good until my pro4wd is up and running.

Small but significant update. Car is back together and running well. Still got to button a few things up but I drove it to work and all is good. Will post pictures soon.

Got a local guy parting out a gtx so I will probably be grabbing some goodies here pretty soon.

Again, small victory! Got a severely leaking axle seal replaced. Also the distributor slipped retarding my timing, fixed that! So the gets is back in action!

Also picked up some parts for the gt4 conversion, here's the center diff/transfer carrier.

More goodies as well but I am going to hold off on posting those till they are on the car.
