    Lifting a 4wd pro?

I know there are a few guys on here that rally cross their proteges, after some searching for a little while i havent found much info on lifting our cars. So far this is what ive come up with,
    Strut Spacer blocks
    Heavier duty springs on front(mx6?)
Front springs on the back strut

Is there anything i am missing so far? I understand that any higher might cause axle problems. I figured using a toyota trans and rear i could just increase the rear axle spacers and find longer toyota axles possibly from a camry or base model celica.

Also does anyone make strut spacers on here?

    I'm buying parts i don't need, With money I don't have, To impress people I don't know.

front springs won't swap on the rear fyi, different diameters.

Strut spacers are your best bet if you don't want to alter ride quality...

As for heavier duty springs, I believe the 4WD would be the stiffest BG spring available as they class them under vehicle weight, and the 4WD obviously has extra weight compared to the FWD varient.

Ride quality isnt a huge issue as long as it is street able. This is what the subaru guys are using to help with camber adjustment with higher lift. Offset spacers.

Anyo e else have any ideas for lift? Idlike to get 3-4" more suspension.

what about spacing the subframes? by using spacers at the tops of the struts, don't you then possibly run into the issue of not having enough travel in the LCAs/TTLs?

that could work, like a body lift on a pickup... could use hockey pucks. Wouldn't give you more ground clearance at the sub frames though if that is what he was looking for.

I hope to see some progress on this. The current plan for my BF GTX is to lift it at least 2", run skid plates, beefy tires and mudflaps. I leave for work well before the roads are plowed, drive 30km of back roads each way before I hit the main road, and I refuse to get a truck or SUV.

Spacing the subframe wont accomplish what i am after. I want 3-4" of suspension lift. The rear shouldnt be to hard. Im most likely going to swap to toyota drivetrain before all of this anyways. So im just going to fab up some extended length control arms and add a spacer between the rear axle and the rear diff for more length. The front is what is bothering me i need to find a longer axle and possibly have a set of lower control arms made.

why not just add RX7 ball joints to the stock LCA's and then use 3rd gen knuckles. That will give you width with only bolt-ons. if not add MX-3 LCAs.

I forgot about the rx7 ball joint trick. Ill start researching how to calculate control arm length. Hopefully an extra inch or so should be enough.

Im just doing this for fun. I want something that i can drive year round. I was driving in some snow last night and bottomng out on snow balls left and right.

hmm... I haven't had a problem with the one I bought off you yet. It even seems lower than most stock BG's I've seen.

ahh... mine has BMW Bottlecaps and tires that are taller than stock lol. My winter wheels/tires are taller as well. Having speedos that are accurate are over rated!
