Bearing in the water-pump seized randomly one day. It wasn't that old and wasn't weeping but also wasn't the highest quality as it was the only one I could get the weekend it needed to be replaced.
The new Napa one is stamped JAPAN and I feel much better about it.

Discovered that my control arm bolts were on finger tight while under the car.

I ordered some nyloc nuts as the stover nuts I purchased oh so long ago to prevent this marred up the threads too much to my liking so they weren't installed.

I also threw some ricer gold reflective foil on the High pressure AC line.

The cheapo foil the replacement line came with had already disintegrated. I need to get some additional metal zip ties but I'm feeling pretty good about it at present.

Here is an older pic from the summer Im not sure if I shared too.

Ole girl doesnt like the rain. I guess I need a disty cap. It starts to skip really bad then clears up after about 10 minutes. Only does it when raining.

Also, I cant wait for MFactory to complete the coilovers!

I've decided to start dumping money into the hatch while the sedan gathers dust lol. Test fitted the Corksport side skirts I've had for ages now, and it looks like I got some work ahead of me. There is a big gap behind the doors on both sides, and there is only a hair line of clearance under the doors. Can't wait to finally put new springs on it. Tired of the rally stance lol.

Also, anyone got any good tips on removing really old double sided tape? All my attempts to remove it result in the paint coming off with it

20$ Harbor Freight heat gun works great for me. Just take your time. You can use chemicals also, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Tried with my buddy's heat gun, and still had paint coming off. This tape has been on the car for nearly the entire life of the car, so it's very hard

That is strange and sucks. Are you talking about paint off the chassis or the white paint on the bumper?

The only other thing I'd recommend is taking a very good razor and thinly separating between paint and tape. Tis' all in the wrists.

The paint on the chassis. At one point, the car had window visors and some kind of molding down the side of the car

Been driving it everyday for the past 2 weeks to give the Yukon break. Put almost 20k on it last YEAR And maybe 3k on the protege. Found a set of 01 miata 16s, I just need to drop it off and have them play switcheroo. Also waiting on the mfactory coilvers to be finalized. I think these gr2s may be on their last leg, 6 years later.

323: drove it every day for two weeks, until at lunch friday the ebrake decided to stick on. No worries, it needs new brakes all around anyways, I was just planning on waiting a bit longer. Also, I keep reminding myself that I should take the snow tires off. Oh yeah, my radio died, so I got a new one that used the same bluetooth adapter as my old one. new one doesn't have a motorized face, so it should stay working more than a couple years.

Blue 4WD: saw it in the garage. Thought about it for ten seconds. I really should get that sucker driving again, it would reclaim some shop space!

Gray 4WD: saw it in the garage. moved some stuff around near it. Discussed with a buddy that I should figure out what I want to put on it for a turbo so I can get things rolling again as soon as the rear crossmember and TTL's arrive. Now I'm wondering if I should call it a 528xi since it's going to be a cross between a 323 protege plus a ST205, and will be all-wheel-drive, and intercooled. Slap that badging on, and REALLY confuse people....

Honestly, I don't even know yet. I need to get my brain back in the game. I was originally going to do my vj20/vf10 hybrid, but now that the E153 is almost a go, there's no reason to keep the power low to save the transmission. I'm thinking I might go all-in right away. I REALLY liked the spool-up time of the vj20, it helped a lot with corner exit in autoX and track days. I occasionally take it to the strip, but it's not the priority. So I want something that will not give me a ton of turbo lag..

Now the caveat; I haven't really done anything to the bottom end or head, it's still the stock 8.2:1 pistons and rods from the GTX front clip, with a GTR intake and the PSC tubular ihi/t3 flanged-exhaust manifold. So I basically need to do a couple year's worth of reading to find out what's been found to not work, and avoid that. I haven't even really decided on what sort of wheel HP that I want in the end.. I see Carlos pulling 500+ on the dyno, but I'm not thinking that's a streetable DD tune, lol.

Finally got the BP swapped wagon running right. Still need to do a water pump (seeping) timing belt, add A/C, and put a clutch in it, then add boost!

I've replaced a ton of parts, fixed a couple overheating issues, fixed a horrible warm stalling issue, and fixed an intermittent misfire. Time for a few upgrades!

The Fuel pump was the cause of the horrible stalling, so I dropped in a walbro 255LPH I had sitting on the shelf.

For appearance, I put my Gram Lights 57c's on it, added a GT front bumper, swapped the mangled GT grille that came on it for an LX I had while I wait for my new grille, and removed the previous owners stickers.

I took off the KSports, and put on the modified long travel Koni red setup that I bought from James. I swapped on some lower profile camber plate components to get about 3/8" more drop up front, I also Swapped out the stock 392# Ksport Front springs for a set of 12" long double progressive QA1 275-425-275 springs. I swapped the 224# Ksport rear springs for a set of 275# QA1's and added a set of Helper springs, and I adjusted all four struts to 1 turn below full hard. The goal was to get a very functional ride-height with far more travel than k-sports, a much less harsh ride, and as much grip as I can generate.

These Have Delivered! Ride is slightly more harsh than stock, but body roll and squat/dive are far more controlled. The springs are actually stiffer than O.T.S. Ksports
but have a much softer ride, plus being progressive gives the car a lot more sprung droop travel, keeping the springs seated and the wheels on the ground under harsh conditions. Most of you have seen the photos of my hatch lifting its right rear at an auto-x, this car shouldn't do that. The hatch had less than 1/2" droop travel on Jim Pierce's KSports from his road race car, as shown in the photos here, the wagon has 4-5" droop in the rear and 3-4" up front. This is accomplished with all 4 springs fully seated at full droop, which was not the case when I received these coilovers!

I like the ride height, love the ride, love the handling, wish the Red's were easier to adjust, and dig the fact that I could raise the car at least 3" from where it sits currently.

The Other MAJOR upgrade I've done is tone down the Exhaust. I ripped out the 2.5" exhaust that was in the car, it was loud, raspy and worst of all, touching the body in multiple locations, so it DRONED something fierce... I kept the spiral core resonator that was in that system, added a Vibrant super-quiet resonator, a magnaflow Cat, and a ZX2 S/R Borla, I also added a better flex-pipe plus a V-band, since the existing exhaust was one piece from the cylinder head to the horrible magnaflow muffler at the back. I also used polyurethane hanger mounts to hold everything is place and dampen the system itself. Now it has a great sound, plenty of volume, no drone or rasp, and it doesn't reverberate. I may still add a helmholtz chamber to target the highway frequency, just to smooth out the tone a hair more at 3600-4000 RPM.

I know I'm getting old when I am excited about a quiet and soft ride! The exhaust was a requirement though, my ears would ring for hours after 30 minutes on the highway, that is permanent damage... wtf.

Getting there one step at a time. This will be a nice car eventually!
