      Goal!

Scored a pristine factory 92 Pro/323 WSM for $10, including the 100 page booklet of wiring diagrams.
Plus $15 shipping = no complaints!

Yesterday I started the 5th gear swap and fluid change.

Who ever said this **** was easy in car is a liar. Had to loosen 3/4 engine mounts, the bearing hub assembly kept falling apart, the reverse synchro ring fell on the ground so many times I thought I was going to warp it. I'd reserve this job till a clutch change if I had to do it again.

Gear box sounded horrible on start up,was worried I buggered something but it went away by the time I backed out of the driveway. I also found out my gear lever had fallen out of its rubber hammock type thing and was resting on the exhaust. This explains why it had be bashing into the center console on certain gear shifts. I popped it back into place no problem.

Box is shifting great even cold now compared to when I was running the straight 90weight oil. As for 5th it's a nice change overall but going to be a bit annoying for passing as I'm going to have to shift to 4th instead of just leaning on the throttle and engaging VICS. But hell I have a 4th gear now so who cares.

how bad was the RPM drop that you have to downshift to pass at highway speeds?

cleaned my MAF and throttle body today, hoping that makes a difference when it comes to that weird hesitation the car had. the MAF wires were dirty af and the TB wasn't much better, haven't taken it for a test drive yet though.

also put in a shift lever extension because I loved the one in my Miata and it seemed like a good idea. not sure that I'm in love with the neo chrome, if it doesn't grow on me I'll just paint the **** black or something.

oh yea, I forgot to post when it happened I think but I sold the wagon. there's like 600hp worth of Escort in the picture, which kinda rules.

75 mph is now ~3600rpms instead of being ~4500rpms prior.

So it's a bit of a gap to the VICs engagement point now at 60 highway cruising.

Also my horn no doesn't work at present. I know it's not the harness as Cruise control still works. I'm unsure if they pressed it too hard when I got it inspected and the weird airbag steering wheel horn mechanism ****ed itself. It could of been broken for a while though, I normally just clutch and rev instead of honking because it's louder.

whoa, 4500 sounds really high to me, I think my wagon was like 4000 or slightly under at 75. then again it had some mystery junkyard G-series in it so I have no idea what it had for gearing.
